Hi, Hunibee, and welcome! I'm so glad you found us and joined in. You can see that we do have a wonderful group of members here that love to help one another...and we really do care about each other, too. I think that's what sets us apart from other forums.
I'm sorry you have this lousy illness but you will learn how to work around it and still have a full and enjoyable life with fibromyalgia. It can be done because I am doing it. I have had fibro for 22 years but I don't let it stop me from doing what I really want to do. You will learn to pace yourself. Your body will tell you just how much you can do before it will rebel. Once you learn that, you can plan ahead so you can get done what you need to do.
Sitting and laying too much will make you stiff as a board. Gentle stretching and light exercises really do help a lot. I enjoy walking so that is my exercise of choice. I started out slowly and didn't go very far but I have strengthened my endurance and now start out each day with a one mile walk. If you have access to a pool, water exercising is great too.
As Alice said, be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good information about fibromyalgia there, including a list of symptoms and some gentle stretching exercises that really do help. You will learn a lot there. Also, there is a world of information in back posts, too.
Don't hesitate to ask questions. We are here to help you. I'm glad you are here and I hope to hear more from you soon.
