hey there..........new here. know what i really hate about this fibro thing??? an hour ago my mood was fairly stable, now im  feeling rather lonely and blue. i just am never sure when the depression will take hold. i know this whole ordeal is like a roller coaster ride but i would really enjoy getting off!!!!!i do think that night times are usually the worst for me.earlier tonight i was offering hope to "sad" and now im right there with her, trying to follow my own advice!!!!im on cymbalta and over all it helps, but i still get these"moments" i do  also try to remember the "this too shall pass" quote but i get impatient for the "passing" part. im grateful i have found this site....i spend a lot of time home alone and know that doesnt help my situation. i try to do volunteer work but cant always make it due to all my symptoms.thanks for letting me vent..........peace to you all.

Hi Evolving! Welcome. I am a newbie here too. I hope you will find some company and friends here that will help. For me, knowing I am not alone in the fibro thing helps so much!

Welcome to the forum. I hate not knowing what to expect hour to hour as well. But everyone here is understanding and supportive, so "vent away" :-)

I also am on Cymbalta and although it helps some with the pain, I have not noticed any mood enhancing effects.

Do you have anything specifically to help you sleep? I think getting better sleep overall was what helped my mood most of all.

Hi evolving and welcome!!

Actually welcome to all of you since you are fairly new. But just because you are new to the forum doesn't mean you are new to fibro or on ideas how to live with it. Fibro levels the playing field...we're all in this together. Maybe that's one comforting thing about the forum is not only are we 'equals' but we understand what each other is going through.

I do understand the feeling of mood swings. As we all know they can come from many sources including fibro so it probably makes sense to make sure there isn't something else going on that you should seek treatment for, but even if everything else is eliminated fibro is enough to get you down easily.

If anyone is feeling more 'down' or 'blue' that just now and then you really should talk to your doc about it. I'm living proof of someone who refused my doctor's help when I needed it and spent 2 miserable years before I accepted medication. For me it was after my oldest son passed away but I was determined to 'tough it out' and I didn't want the stigma of someone who needed anti-depressants. I felt pretty stupid once I came to my senses and let my doc help, but it put my back on track for the most part.

OK, I've babbled enough. Glad you all are part of our family. Join us on Thursday nights for Chat Night where we talk about everything. It's help in the Chronic Pain chat room. Start time is 6PM Pacific - 9 PM Eastern. Also come enjoy some daily smiles on our Koffee Klatch topic. Just a little time for us to relax and get a chuckle or two.

Welcome Evolving! I am quite new to this forum as well, but I have found it (and the people) so wonderful! Everyone here is so kind, caring, and helpful! I have had alot of input and advice and it has all been wonderful! I hope you find this forum as great as I do! :)

Chutz has done a proper welcome, but I just wanted to add my welcome as well. This is a wonderfully warm group with a lot of experience and wisdom and a whole lot of caring and support. I am amazed at how helpful everyone is here.

Hi Evolving, I am also kind of new here and new to fibro, though I think I have had it for a few years. I'm trying to map out all the weird illnesses/ symptoms I've had, with the help of this very kind forum. There are good people here and it is a great place to share your pain, questions, and comments. Welcome!

Hi and welcome to all the newbies. I'm glad you all found us and you will be happy you did. This is a great place to learn about fibro and to vent all our frustrations that having fibro causes. Read the fibro 101 thread, second on first page, it contains lots of great info. We will be here for you.

I'm also new and feel exactly like you. Yesterday i was questioning whether i even had fibro and was feeling all let down and annoyed.
Today i'm throwing myself back into it and trying to take my own advice.
I hope you feel better soon and can get out to do your volunteer work. I'm going back next tuesday after being out of work for 6 weeks, it'll be hard but i know i can cope as they are very good to me.

Hi, Evolving, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  You can see what great members we have here.  We love to help one another and we really do care about each other too.  I'm sure you will like it here.

I see that Marlee already directed you to the Fibro 101 thread.  You will learn a lot there that can help you.  Also, read back posts and ask questions.  We are here to help you.
