I just found out 1 month ago that I have FM but it took 2 years and seeing alot of doctors to figure it out Im new here and I was also wondering if this site is free or will I have to buy something sooner or later. Mony is real tight in my house but love keeps us goning, Oh by the way Im a man with FM and I here thats rare. Hope to here from some one out there. By for now..

As far as I know its all free.

And welcome to the forum! I'm still semi-new myself but I have found it and all of the people absolutely amazing!

Hi, Painter, and welcome.  Yes, this site is free.  Our administrator pays out of his pocket for this wonderful site.  He gets help from the advertisers, too.  To help him, click on the advertisements occasionally.  They then help with the cost of the site.  You do not have to buy anything.

Hi Painter and welcome!!

This is the best freebie on the internet, IMHO. The cost of admission is free but what you will find is priceless! The fibro forum is a wonderful family of people who truly understand and care how you feel each and every day.

Another thing that is absolutely free is a Fibro Support Ribbon. At the top of the page there is Fibro 101. Read that thread and it will tell you how you get get a totally free ribbon, no string attached at all. This is a gift from your moderators. Doesn't get much better than that.

Hi Painter and welcome to the family. Chutzie is right it's free but priceless. But do click on the words as much as you can to help. It's true that more women than men get fibro but we have a few men that pop in when they can so your not completely alone. I'm glad you joined us you will learn a lot by reading back threads and asking questions. We are here to help you.

If you want to get a lot out of the forum it's not entirely free... You have to contribute any good ideas you have to help others with their pain, spread the word that men get fibro, too, and be compassionate with others who share this disorder. It just doesn't cost any cold, hard cash. tongue

There's another gentleman on this forum, JoKat, has an excellent attitude and his signature says it all, "Fibro is a life sentence, but not a death sentence." That's what's cool about this place. We can build each other up and understand when no one else can or will.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, as a wood ship builder having a hobby helps alot with the pain, I've been working on a ship that was built in 1620 in Spain its 27" long it realy takes my mind off some of it the pills do the rest. Anyone out there have a hobby?

I like to do scrap booking. I do it both handmade and on the computer. I do them for other people as well. It's alot of fun and gets my mind off things for sure!

I will be 60 in July and I was born in 1949 and I'm still working full time as an industrial painter, I bet you guest that one. I also want to thank all of you that have replyed. I live in Salem, Oregon I am married and right now it's 82* out side. I will be working for 6 more months then I'm done, I hope I can work that long, The pain is getting bad and the stiffness is is bad. I have had 12 surgerys in my life and I wont have any more, Im going to file for SSD after the 1st of the year.

What does you do for fun, what does any one do I build boats from wood ship kits you can see them on the internet by going to wood ship kits in your search and click on one of those sites. There not cheep and there hard to build. I have 3 kits and I've been working on the frist one for 1 1/2 years and its not even half done, I have one that retails for over $1,000.00 but when Im working on the boat some times I forget I have this stuff.

Well got to go Will be back on line tomorrow.

I only sleep on Sunday, Fibromyalgia, osteoarthitus, married.

I like to read and camp. Anyone else into the great outdoors? Only problem with camping is that when we get back I sleep for a few days.

Welcome to the forum! I am a man with fibro as well. There are lots of great people here and lots of good advice. And a place to just vent or share frustrations (helps keep us sane).

My hobies are caligraphy and small metal working/jewelry making. I agree that doing something that keeps your mind focused and requires fine motor skills does help with the pain and the brain fog.

I hope to see you around here a lot.
