Anyone have muscle spasms in head???

I tried googling this but found threads on all other parts of the body but head. Last night out of the blue I got a sharp pain in my left temple that gave me a jolt, it happened several times  before I went to sleep and started again this morning. It's not constant or anything just little jolts of pain in the temple. I also have a place on the back of my head at the base of the skull where I get little jolts of pain but that is from a neck muscle and it is sore to the touch, I have no soreness in my temple. DH says I should get it checked out but I don't panic over little jolts of pain anywhere on my body. I know neck muscles can cause pain clear over the top of your head to the forehead. I think what worries him is I have been having a lot of bad headaches in the past month or so but that isn't new.

 

I know I'm the one that said, "when in doubt get it checked out", but I'm not as concerned as he is.

 

Thanks, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Marlee, I have gotten a quick, sharp pain in my temple but never really gave it a thought.  I rarely get a headache so it doesn't concern me.  But, I did google "sharp pain in temple" and many sites came on and said it could be part of a migraine.  You can have painless migraines...I know I do.  So perhaps this is what is going on with you.  Hope you feel better soon.

Ice-pick headache. It's a form of migraine. Been getting them for years.

Marlee..I get that kind of sensation when I notice I have been clenching my teeth, or grinding them in  my sleep.  The muscle at my temple will also twitch.  It feels like an electrical jolt.  The dentist told me some kind of nerve (do I remember which one...no!) runs through the jaw and into all areas of the head and face and when you clench your teeth it becomes irritated.  Don't know if that's what's going on with you, but I have felt it before too.  ZAP!

I have arthritis in my jaw and ears. Sometimes the joint in my jaw will swell sending pain into the ear.

What you have sounds like "Cluster Headaches". I get them every now and then. Usually the pain lasts

for a few minutes and once in a while for as long as 1/2 hour. I like trying to read a tray slip and get one

so bad I can hardly see.

I get odd "electric charges" in various parts of my head.  They always suprise me, but you'd think I'd get used to them by now.  Weird feeling!

I have felt these before too, altho I have always associated them with bad heartburn. Usually when I feel it, it seems to originate somewhat from my jaw. It could be unrelated to Marlee's pain, altho when I have it, it is very sharp, like a temple angina :)
