The meds my rheummy have me on don't work and I plead with her to change them but its like she don't hear me .I had asked her if I can have pain meds pers or vic for pain and she says there is no cure and you should learn how to live with the pain ...well I don't think its normal for someone to be in constant pain all day and it take 2 to 3 hrs to get out of bed in the morning ...she then proceeded to tell me she can give me darcocet which don't work ..but I had to take a drug test first to see that I wasn't taken any other drugs I felt like she felt I was a drug seeker....I recently moved to georgia and in the process of another dr does any orther meds work like vitamins of some kind I'm in desperate need of some thing to ease it up atleast a little bit thanx for listening

Merfy,

Have you discussed Cymbalta, Lyrica, Savella with your Rheumy? These are not "pain meds" but are the 3 FDA approved meds for Fibro.

Also, have you read through the posts listed in Fibro 101? there are several recomendations for vitamines and OTC meds that might provide some relief.

Also, there is no shame in firing a doctor if you do not feel you are being treated adequately. I recently fired a Neurologist who would not explain why he wanted to do tests or treatments.

What meds does she have you taking currently? While she is right that there is no cure for Fibro, she should be working to help you maintain as high a quality of life as is possible.

60mg cymbalta ....soma 4x a day and tramadol. 100 mg day
