I may be losing my job because of the brain fog and making a mistake that I don't even remember. I was wondering if anyone had filed for disability and how long it took if approved.  I am trying to find other employment, but not a whole lot I can do now. I had that job for 16 years.  I have fibro, prolapsed discs, sacriolitis and undiff spondylitis.

Hello Confused,

There are several here on disability of one type or another. I am just returning to work after 4-5 months of disability insurance claims. It seems to be different for every insurance company - and different for Social Security Disability.

I had to wait a couple of times for the insurance to review the claim when there was new information from any medical testing.

If you do a Google search for Fibromyalgia Disability you will find some recomendations that I found usefull, #1 of which "They don't care what diseases you have, they only care how they are affecting you and what proof of this there is."

I will shut up now and let some of the others give there advise. :-)

I'm trying to get diability too ...I have fibro psoriatic arthrits sacroilitis degenrative disc disease in my neck and had surgery on my foot for tarcel tunnel and had my talus bone removed......now with all that someone told me I would never get approved plus I have fatigue syndrome I'm only 35 I feel 95 ........sorry to go on ....I hope you get some answers

I have had surgery on one foot for plantar fasciitis, it didn't help so I didn't do the other one. I have alot of other issues, just didn't list them all. I am waiting to be officially terminated, I would go back if they would let me. Just not sure what else I could do. I can't sit or stand for more than 30 minutes if that long. Can't walk for long and can't stand without leaning on something. ?Can't do stairs. Heck even an interview sounds scary to me. I also have depression and even though I have worked with the public for many years, I find myself being more unsocial all the time. I am not a lazy person, I have worked for 30 years and I am only 43. I have pushed myself for so long and this last thing has made me unsure of my capabilities, mentallly and physically. I am just weighing all possible options right now. The thought of not working scares the h*** out of me too.

I am not on disability, but I wanted to say I understand about losing a job due to fog. I had a great, albeit physically and mentally demanding job, but I was fired for forgetting to lock up properly. I apparently left one of the exits unlocked, and the safe as well. I don't really have a good memory of that day, and even have missing time. I have no idea how I set the alarm and got to my car. about two minutes worth of time is just gone. And I was terminated immediately for it. I didn't know at the time that I had fibro, but as I was new and still in my probationary period it wouldn't have made much difference knowing. Sicne you have been at your job so long, you should be able to fight the termination on the grounds that they are discriminating against you for having a disability. Unless you feel you would be better off not working right now, and that would be understandable too.

Although my district manager was aware of my medical conditions and my limitations, I just don't think it would do any good to try to fight it. It is out of his hands now. He has been great and has done all he could possibly do. I did send an email this morning, a last ditch effort. I don't think it will help, but if I hadn't I would be wondering if it would have. Thanks for the replies, I do have some info from a place that files disability for chronic pain patients. After this is all over I may try.

I got my ssdi in two months (unheard of, hey?), my pshyc made sure to note that the chronic pain would not let me sit or stand for more than 15 minutes at a time and that with the pain and fog I could not work more than 3 hours a day.  I started on the fmla long term disability through work and my phsyc did all of the paperwork for my ssdi.  I hear that I got very lucky, but it is your limitatations that will give the weight needed for ssdi.
