HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH PROVIGIL? IT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP WITH FATIQUE. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR FIBRO. IT SUPPOSSEDLY DOES NOT CAUSE JITTERINESS.          DESERT RAT

I have a friend that is on provigil.  She loves it.  It helps her tons.  My neuro offered it to me but the adderall is working so I turned it down.  The provigil is new and isn't in a generic form.  It can cost upwards of $800 a month.  I have good insurance but one of my other meds is $2,800 a month.  I don't need to anger the insurance gods with another pricey med. 

Provigil is not without side effects.  It can be hard on your liver.  It can cause a serious condition called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.  It has also been associated with some psychological issues (mania, anxiety, depression).  It seems to affect dopamine levels in the brain.

It is like most drugs.  It all depends upon your body chemistry.  I hope it works for you.

I tried it but after using it for a while, I got cold sores, sore throat and diarhea. But other than that it worked fine. But because I couldn't tolerate it, I went to adderall.

It works for some but not for all. I have a friedn that was taking both the adderall and the provigil and she didn't notice the provigil helping at all. On the other hand it worked good for alertness for me. But when in a flare, nothing works. Aint that the story of our lives?

yes that is the story of our lives.  it is just a matter of degrees as to how wll if fell.  as you know we are never 100% we can only hope on a good day that we have bearable pain and are able to think clearly.  the thinking has been a major major problem im in a constant fog like a hangover. im drinking more and more coffee to get through the day.  thanks for understanding not complaining just stating facts.   gentle hugs prema

One bad thing, is that stimulants can cause us more pain. It has to do with the central nervous system. But I can handle pain better than fatigue. So I don't complain. If the provigil doesn't work for you, try adderall. That really helps me. I am a big coffee drinker, but it put my blood pressure up so I use 1/3 decaf and the rest regular coffee. That really helps me because I drink it all day long. lol...

I hope that the provigil works for you. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

I have Provigil but I only take it when I need the energy (due to hypersomnia) so I couldn't really say how it helps on a daily basis. My doctor wants me to take it daily but I take my pills in the morning and for Provigil I really need to eat something first. I don't have the time or the stomach to eat in the morning so I avoid taking my Provigil. Let us know how it works for you, though, maybe I'll reconsider.

Does hyperinsomnia mean that you sleep a lot? Because the provigil helps to keep you awake. I use to take it but I take adderall instead now. It keeps me awake during the day.
