So now I know why my hips hurt. Doc said it can be caused by muscle condition (fibro).  Both bursae of both hips are inflamed or whatever they do.  I think this can be cured, which is way cool.  It is aggravated by excessive walking and stairs.  It can be helped with anti-inflammatories, and physical therapy and maybe aspiration of the bursae fluid. 

Anyone with bursitis and information?

I had this in one hip when I first got fibro. I had a cortizone shot and it worked. I haven't had trouble since.

Hope you get some relief. I remember it hurting so much.

I hope you get relief, too. My rheumy says the pain in my hips is bursitis, but I've had cortizone shots a couple of times and it doesn't help. I've also done PT with no help. Now I am walking in a warm water pool. I don't have any trouble walking in the water, only on land. I'm trying to be optimistic about this. I need to be able to walk more than a block. Diane

Yeah, I suppose they are kind of smelly.

I am really surprised that hardly anyone on here has bursitis. That is because my doctor said it is common for people with muscular problems and that fibromyalgia is a muscular problem. Although, I thought fibro was a nerve problem: the nerves send pain signals to the brain when they should not be doing so.

I do not know how long I suffered with bursitis before my doctor figured it out, though. Others may have it and not know. It is kind of nice to have something that is curable. Diane, I hope you get relief soon.

I have Bursitis in both hips and suffered with it for a long time as I thought it was just another Fibro thing.

My pain Doc gave me a Cortinsone shot in one which helped for about 6 months. Since the shots hurt alot I put off having another in both hips. They are causing me to wake about every hour through the night

about a week ago I tried Quantum Touch although being a huge skeptic it seems to have helped enough that I don't have to get the shots I am going again this week again hopeing for more relief. I only wake up 2 or 3 times a night since.

I hope that made sense. Thought I would share another possible option.

I'm not sure if it's just huge wishful thinking as I have a real issue with needles can't watch them on TV even LOL.

I read here daily but seldom post as others have much better info than I. I have learned so much here and am gratefull I found this site

I hope you get some releif soon.

I got a year and a half relief from my depo-medrol (cortisone) shot for hip bursitis. I need another one now, but I am waiting because they use the same med for my arthritic spine facet joint shots and the sciatic L5-S1, and I can only get one a month. Don't want too mych cortisone running around the system. Plus they only get paid for doing one thing at a time. At this rate I'll have to go in every month for a year to get all the places fixed, and then it will be time to start over.

I get a little relief from the bursitis with some of the other meds I take: gabapentin (neurontin) helps a little, Ultram (tramadol) helps a lot. Nothing helps the torn medial meniscus in the knee though. Not even the depo shots.
