House cleaning the fibro way...

I did 15 loads of laundry at the laundromat on Christmas Eve morning then ran out of steam. We put the laundry baskets in the bedroom with the rest of the stuff we've been stashing as we "cleaned". We had company until almost midnight then had to clear a path to the bed and shovel clean laundry off of it so we could sleep. Personally, I'd have slept on the couch, going to bed required too much work.

We woke up this morning when my husband accidentally kicked over a basket causing others to fall over like Dominoes. We no longer even had a path out of the room. We just laughed and went back to sleep. If anyone ever broke in, they'd kill themselves trying to get through the bedroom. At least the rest of the house looks presentable (No one knows there are five lodes of dirty towels hiding behind the shower curtain!)

That is a lot of Dirty Laundry LOL

And if that burglar made it to the bedroom he would just be lost in the basket of Brassieures anyway!!! :)

Wow, Dagger....15 loads!!! I'm impressed!! I would have fallen over after about 3 loads! :)

Way back when, before marriage and children, I worked at the telephone company and rented a house with a friend.  We never locked the doors.  One morning we got up to go to work and someone had walked in and stole our purses.  We called the police.  The cop walks in and says "OMG...they have totally ransacked your whole house!"  Of course he would think that...the clothes and dirty laundry were strewn everywhere and I remember him tip toeing over the disaster area as to not disturb any 'evidence'.  My roomate just looked at him and said:  "Oh no, this is OUR mess."  I was so embarrassed.  His eyeballs popped out of his head and because we had one of those old heating grates in the middle of the living room floor he lectured us on how the place would catch on fire if some of that clothing ever got on top of the grate.  A week later we had to call the fire department...we did not have on our 'listening ears'.  Oh...the good ole days!  But I think of that every time the piles start to accumulate...and my very stylish rabbit hat that went up in flames as it lay over the old heating grate for about three days...

I have so much cleaning to do. And organizing. My son got A LOT of new toys for Christmas, and now I am really not sure where to put them all. My apartment is really rather small. The past two or three weeks have been really stressful, and this past week has been so busy that I am behind in my cleaning. I feel horrible because my kitchen is a mess, and I just hurt too much and am too tired to clean it right now. My dad and his new wife have been coming over, and I always feel really embarrassed by my kitchen. I did straighten some things up this morning because they are coming over in a while, but every time I consider doing the kitchen, I hurt just thinking about it. *sigh* I know I will have to do it because my dh always come us with excuses as to why he "can't" do it. I always end up being the one to do most of the cleaning. But, anyways. I know how you feel.

Donna, you didn't say whether they found your purses??? Were they stolen or buried??? smilewinkgrin

 

I did stash a few things at the last minute but I guess I feel pretty good about my house in comparison.

 

I was going to wait til Mon morning to start putting away Christmas but decided to take the tree down and put all the decor on the dinning table and tomorrow I will bring the tubs in and pack it all up. Then Mon morning when DH goes back to work and oldest son leaves I can start everyday cleaning and laundry again.

 

Sassy, I have gotten to know you well enough to know your house is probably not as bad as you think. Your a lot like me and a perfectionist.

 

Dagger, if you lived close enough I would be more than happy to let you use my washer and dryer so you wouldn't have to go to the laundry mat. sad

My friend's mom told her if you were having guests and no time to do the dirty dishes just store them in the oven until the people left.  Sure enough she did this once.  The people brought over pizza and someone turned the oven on to preheat.  It wasn't until she smelled stuff burning did she remember the dirty dishes.  BTW, this was in the 60"s before everyone had dishwashers.

puppylover, I wish I had a dishwasher. That would make my life so much easier.
Marlee, the house was pretty bad. At least the kitchen was, anyway. We have a tiny kitchen that can BARELY fit two people in it. There is like almost NO counter space. We had dishes stacked full in the sink, what little counter space there was, and pots and pans on the stove. But, I cleaned it yesterday. Then I felt exhausted the rest of the day. But, it got done.

Sassy, that's going to be me this week. My house is embarrassing. But that's my goal of the week, to tidy up so I don't have the start the new year in a sty. My last goal of the year is send off this year with a delicious New Year's Eve dinner cooked in a clean kitchen, and to wake up in the new year to a clean house.
