Hi I am Ray

I have been reading much of the chats and I am impressed. I am a male senior 71 years of age and found out last winter that I have FM. I had to leave Florida and come back to Canada. I am a snowbird and go there for most of the winters. I did not want to admit to this disease or whatever it is but---. I thought it was for younger females only but----. I appreciate the chat and for now I will just read (have to go and rest first I have found out in life that acceptance is the first step of recovery.

Hi Ray, welcome to our family. You are so right about acceptance. Acceptance is a big step
in taking action of helping oneself. Having a positive mindset is not always easy. It does
require a huge effort when living with pain but it can be done. Finding support and the right
combination of meds really helps.

I have learned so much from others' experiances and recieved loving, caring support, this
forum is great! Glad you have joined us!

Hi, Ray, and welcome!  I think there are far more men that do have fibro but they don't go to the doctor!  Does that sound familiar?  Huh? 

 

You will learn a lot in Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are some wonderful stretching exercises there that really do work.  Also, be sure to keep moving.  The more you sit or lay, the stiffer you will be and your pain will be greater.

 

Don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  Besides, it's nice to have a man around the house (forum)!  We do have several men that come here occasionally.  So, don't be a stranger!
