Thursday...want to join the Koffee Klatch??

Do you ever use items around your house in a way they weren't intended??? It's one of my favorite things to do since I not only feel clever but I most often save money in the process. The type of things I'm talking about are using a paint brush to clean your keyboard; using plastic tubs in the freezer to separate items so you know what you have and can actually find it; or using rocks in a bucket to anchor your Christmas tree.

The one I found most recently is using Hand Sanitizer for removing stains. Recently one of the grandkids decided to draw some really cool designs on the light tan microfiber sofa while mom was in the bathroom. This one is 3 and has hopes of making it til his 4th birthday but that day was not a good one. So my phone rang and the mom was desperate to get the ink out. I had recently read that hand sanitizer would to the job and many of us keep that one hand...lol She took her bottle and a rag and went at it. She said it took a bit of elbow grease but it all came out. And for me, I found that it takes pitch off of my hands. We use a lot of firewood during the cold season and I often end up with pitch on my hands. Works great! But I found it also takes it out of clothing when I got some pitch on my favorite T-shirt. Give it a try and see how you can put it to use.

So what kind of clever tips can you share on using things for alternate purposes?

Very interesting about the hand sanitizer Chutzie, I will try to remember this.

 

I save expired credit cards to use as scrapers when filling holes in the walls from nails before painting. They can also be used anytime you need to scrape something off and you don't want to damage the surface.

 

This one has been around for awhile but I use dryer sheets to put in pans if something is stuck in them and it loosens it up.

 

To clean the microwave I put a cup of water in it til it comes to a boil and leave it in there to steam off the grime so it can be wiped out.

OK, you guys are just way too clever! I thought I was pretty good at these tips but all but one are new to me! Glad we don't have those kinds of spiders here...<whew> cause I don't own a swiffer...lol

Awwww, Susan...I love Himalayan kitties. I've had 3 cats over the many years that were part Himalayan but never a pure bred. I told myself long ago that if/when I find myself cat-less I would go looking for a beauty just for me. I still have one sweet orange long hair that was my son's kitty and she's at least 12 and acts like she's 4. Just have a new puppy and this cat isn't terribly happy about the deal...lol But I do notice that when we go outside for our 'potty and play' time that the cat is right there making sure she's within sight of the dog. Ya, she's all cat attitude...lol

I use baking soda to clean the red rings on my counter from soda or Kool-aid.

My Dad used to pin dryer sheets to his shirt to ward off the punky flies (black flies). They hated it...they also don't like Avon's
skin so soft.

My thing is apple cider vinager. I use it in my rinse cycle in my laundry to take out any leftover soaps as I can't do anything
with scent in it. It makes the clothes look new forever. I have stuff 10 years old and you can't tell. I NEVER use clorox or
hot water in my laundry. It is also good for the septic lines and tank as my lines are over 20 yrs old and still going strong.

Also, for those of us who hate to clean...use car wax in your tub and shower to keep soap from sticking to it. When you get out
just wipe it down with a towel. Stays clean forever. It's also good for kitchen appliances.
