Does a sauna help or hurt you or neither

The hot tub really helps me feel better, so I thought, the sauna would be good, too.  But I actually felt worse after the sauna.  That may have been a fluke or something.   What do you think?  Sauna, yes or no?

I can tell you how it made me feel before fibro dx. The hot tub is great, the sauna is a joke! Why would I want to sweat like a pig??? Oh, wait! Women don't sweat, we 'Glow'...lol So I glowed like a pig and was miserable until I got out. Being sensitive to extremes like heat and cold I can imagine that other fibros might not feel better after using a sauna. Just way too much...

Too much heat for me!  One of the hubby's fishing buddies has a sauna (it's HUGE...the size of my garage) and everyone piles in there on a cold winter's night.  It made me ill.  They drink beer while suffocating half to death also...don't think you are supposed to do that, but Whatever! Hubby swears it gets rid of his sinus headaches.

I love it, especially in a really cold climate. It is important to drink water before going in though. Also, don't take a book in there, the heat will undo the glue :(

As much as I sweat (uh glow) on a daily basis I don't see me ever using a sauna! I can just take a short walk and get the same results! Heck, some days just sitting on the puter makes me sweat. So no sauna for me.

Personally, the Infra Red Sauna has helped me more than any other type of sauna, hot tub or bath. The heat isn't overwhelming, but it penetrates right into the bone. I don't own one so my use of them is rare (just at the gym when I do AquaFit), but I'd love to get one for home.

I tried a sauna once and got so hot I could barely breathe.  Plus, ladies don't sweat...or glow.  Yeah, right!  turn

Hi, first time in here.

I do not have a sauna, so cannot say, but I literally live in my hot tub some days. My rhuemy told me that it was one of the best purchases we made. On bad days I am out there 10 times a day or more.

I honestly don't know about saunas but I wish our replacement hot tub would gfet here soon!!!

I just don't know.  Sweating is not too bad.  The hot tub is great!  But I got a headache after the sauna.  I think with migraines, the sauna is not helpful.  Heat always makes migraines worse.  Maybe I would feel differently if it were not a migraine.  I do not know.
