Well I called the clinic this morning about gettin in earlier with the surgeon. The next appt. open is Monday at 3:45 so hopefully hubby will still be able to go along. Well anyways I then went up to the hospital to spend time with him. Then early this afternoon I got a call from the new pulmonologist asking me to come see him,(my pulmonologist was off today) So being I was at the hospital and the clinic is attached to the hospital my daughter and I went over there. I guess I wasnt as lucky with the needle biopsy as I had thought and there is a leak in the lungs. He showed me on the pet scan how where the lung should be full there is a space in there so now I have to be really careful and if I have any problems breathing I need to get to the ER right away so they can put in a chest tube. He said something also about the tumor being inoperable because it is in both lungs. I will wait for the surgeon to affirm this before I worry too much.

Well then I go back and sit with hubby till about 7p.m. Then I come home grab the mail on my way in and there is a letter from social security saying my husband is making too much at his part time job at wal-mart and he will no longer be considered disabled. We have 10 days to appeal and hubby is in the hospital. Not sure what to do now besides praying and hoping that the lady up at social security can help us.

Sorry this is so long but I really needed to vent.

I'm so sorry, it just seems to keep going doesn't it. I wish I could give you comfort but do know I am praying for you all. ((hugs))

Please, ((((((((Shirley))))))) don't apologize for your post being long! It isn't, and even if it was, at a time like this you need to vent!!!
Sometimes it seems like the floodgates just open up and WHAM!!! let you have it. I will say an extra prayer for you and your husband and your whole family.

I'm in such shock over all you've gone through just today alone. Stars above, woman, I am so sorry about how hard this all is. This isn't fair.

Making too much? Grrr! Too bad they don't come down to the hospital and give a review right now. Arrgg! I know they say people are only allowed to earn up to either $900 or $1000 a month or they will be disqualified. Is there any way he could have his work cut so that he's not above that amount?

Your results with the doc are tough. about that "hole" - please be careful. Can your daughter stay with you?

As for it being inoperable - yes, that stinks. But then again, many inoperable cancers are still gotten rid of through other means. You're going to fight - I know you've said that already - and you've got us behind you 100%.

You have endured so much in these last few days. No one but a super woman would be doing as well as you are right now. You are strong. Rest and regroup. You can do this.

My goodness you need a break don't you. I can't hug you in person but I am sending my prayers and hugs to you. Stay strong, please. It is so hard isn't it? Please vent all you need to!! That at least helps aleviate some of the stress of everything you are having to go through. You are in my thoughts, take care. Heather

So much to deal with Shirley.  I will certainly be praying for you about everything.  I absolutely love your attitude about not worrying.  You are very strong- kudos to you!

I'm so sorry you are having such a terrible time!  I sure hope they are wrong about that tumor.  But, as others have said,  you are a very strong woman and can face things with faith and hope. 

 

As far as Social Security goes, I'm not sure what you are allowed to earn on disability and I do think it changes from year to year.  I know, for sure, I'd be checking the Social Security site and see if there was a mistake.

Shirley hugssssss. I happen to be on Social Security, so I understand. For the first 60 dollars they can not touch. After that, its 1 dollar to ever 2 dollars made. With math, you can figure out with the current wage on how many hours of work they can do. Appeal, and say his hours just got cut back. As he is in the hospital, and hasn't been working it very well might be doable. And your husband can request less hours. I am so sorry social security does this to you both, I know they can be a pain in the tushie. You sure have a lot on your plate. A tumor is scary, trust me I know. I have one in my left eye. Surgery isn't the only option. I do chemotherapy. I did radiation too for awhile. In some patients, radiation and chemotherapy can be given at the same time to shrink the tumor then it becomes operable. The thing that keeps me going is family, friends, "adoptive family" (hint everyone lol), and mostly important God. I know God will not put me through what I cant go through, and He will never leave my side. Phillippians 4:13 is one of my favorite verses. "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." And you always have us, each one of us to lean on. Huggggssss honey.

Hi everyone thank God for all of you here. You guys are such a boost for my spirits. I did call Social Security today and set up an appointment for next week at the local office. They really didnt want to talk to me about it, but I told then Charles is in the hospital and that there is no way we can make it without his Social Security so they were able to set up an appointment.
Charles cut his hours down about a month ago because he was just getting to tired doing 24 hours. So he cut down to 16 and now with the cancer scare he is talking about taking a leave of absence to be with me. So we will tell them this when we go up there.
The Dr. said that Charles might be able to come home tomorrow. I sure hope so sitting up there at the hospital makes for long days. lol I felt guilty coming home tonight with him having to stay there. So I am really praying that he can come home with me tomorrow.
If not I just might spend the night with him so he doesnt get so lonely.
I am so thankful I have all of you for support and I pray for you all dailey. I know that I dont know each of you personally but I feel as if you are part of my family.
