I was wondering if anyone has done any diet changes that have help with fibro pain?

I have lost 52 lbs since April, by going on a wellness program through a doctor. It has not helped my fibro pain, but I can sure get around better. Walking is easier. And I just feel better about
myself.

Myjoy,
I am so happy that you lost this weight. When I was first diagnosed they wanted to put me on a strictly protien diet. But I need some carbs. It was suppose to help with pain and energy. I never did do it though. Good luck on any type of diet. It is hard, lifetime changes I guess. I have been cheating, and it shows.
Hugs, Karen

I haven't found that any food changes has changed the pain but, like myjoy, I have lost a lot of weight and that makes it easier on the muscles and also I'm far more active now. I can move easier without all that excess baggage.

I think mostly that the docs are still on the fence about
diet. I read it somewhere but can't remember where.

I think, in general, eating natural helps-- like no processed stuff. But take what I say with a grain of salt because I do not have a diagnosis of Fibro.... have had chronic pain and hope to have the t ender point test done soon.
However, recently I began having a green smoothie every day... just to get more fruits and veggies in my diet... it sounds gross but it is not if you make it with a good balance of fruits vs. veggies....I put in spinach, strawberries, a banana, almond milk and ground flaxseeds... and it really is good! and I am trying to cut out stuff with anything artificial.... at least for me, it seems like any kind of preservative makes my pain worse. i know it is different for everyone though. Just in the last week or so, i have not had as much pain. So, not sure if it is a coinicidence or what, but even still, i know eating like that could help prevent other diseases at least.
hope you find something that works for you!

I have given up all artificial sweetners and try not to eat prepackaged food.
It hasn't made any difference

I truely believe that we should eat as well as we can. We get a half of a grass fed cow in July every year and a market hog at the county fair. We do landscaping so there is money in the summer but not so much in the winter so we are set for meat pretty much.
My girlfriend and I have a huge garden and we can and freeze tons of veggies, pickles, dilly beans spaghetti sauce and what not, so we are eating as natural as possible.

What I eat never seems to make a difference in my fibro pain. It does with my IBS, but that's it.

I just got a bunch of books at the library on gluten and dairy free diets. I think i'll try the gluten first then see about
adding in the dairy free(I LOVE my cheese) but yes i'm hoping it helps

well, it's just been a slight difference for me with the green smoothies and what not...BUT.... you know how there are things that can trigger pain? I definitly think that junk food is a trigger for me and makes my pain worse.... so, I am not sure if eating healthy would make ALL the pain go away since it is still nerve related..... but I woudl think it would help some at least. maybe a person has to eat really, really well. I don't know. I am following the Green Smoothie Girl's website and blog... it's all very interesting, and some people have said it has helped with their pain..... but then again, she doesn't eat ANY meat and I am not sure if I could do that.

I have not had success in dieting since about
a year after i was diagnosed 6 years ago and i have been on some very restrictive diets that have me eating next to nothing. I spoke with a dietician who said that there is only so much a person can lose especially if being active is hard and that if we manage to lose more it is temporary and usually we put it back and then some within five years. I wish i could lose more i have tried very hard for a long time but my body just won't let that extra padding go. I read once and article about
fibro and diet which said that with fibro our bodies go into a sort of survival mode and need all the energy we get from food so it is not in weight loss mode. congrats to all who succeeded my hats off to you.
As far as food I also have IBS and going off wheat has helped i also don't eat any milk products whatsoever and that seems to keep my stomach okay ( oh also there are some of the night shade veggies that i stay away from especially peppers).
good luck, feel well
