I have gained 10 lbs this week. The clothes I wore on Monday, are not the same clothes I can wear today. It is all accumulating around my mid section. I look 9 months pregnant, and that's impossible! I am 45, wear size 4-6 and it's noticable. I can suck in to an extent, but I can barely bend at the waist.
I see a doc tomorrow, but it was supposed to be for pain. I have yet to find a doc to give me anything for pain. But I think the focus needs to be on this problem. I quit smoking in April, but I would have thought that gradual weight gain would have occured from that, but this is rediculous! I had every test imaginable in March/April when I started to feel crappy.
Any suggestions or quesions/thoughts I should bring up tomorrow?
Thanks!!!
Update: I wasn't able to see my regular doc. He must have realized that when I made the appointment, it was a holiday, so he cancelled my appointment! I was able to see the nurse practitioner. I told her of my weight gain, and she looked at my abdomen. It was huge at this time, and I had a hard time breathing. I felt as if I couldn't stretch my chest anymore!
She thinks it is because of my diet and I have a build up of gas. I have noticed that this past week, I have had horrible flatulence...sorry to tell you this, but it's part of the story! She wants me to cut out my carbinated sodas, cheese, and dairy products. I am supposed to keep a diet diary of every thing I eat for the next week, until I can see her again. Funny how I can get in to see her at a moments notice, but it takes 3 months to see my PCP!! I don't eat much sugar, and I'm not a lover of bakery items, so she ruled out any Candida, which many times causes stomach distention.
In my head, I keep thinking that so many of my problems started after I had "quit" smoking! My blood pressure was lower, my pain level was lower, I didn't have any of this gas, etc...I have always been an opposite of other people. My doctors were always amazed that I was a smoker because I had no symptoms. I had smoked for 28 years. I know I am trying to make excuses for how poorly I am feeling, but I need something to blame this one! :) I've been smoke free since April 15.
