How is your pain today??? Tuesday, Sept 6th.

Hi Fibro-Friends!!! How is everyone doing on the Fab Tuesday??? I've included the wonderful pain scale that Sherrine has posted in the Fibro 101 info. I think this is a great scale for really measuring your pain.   

        Ok,  I am feeling  good today. I am a 2  (I still take all my meds as scheduled.) So this is with  meds. 

 
 
0 - Pain Free
1 - Very minor annoyance - occasional minor twinges. No medication needed.
2 - Minor Annoyance - occasional strong twinges. No medication needed.
3 - Annoying enough to be distracting. Mild painkillers take care of it. (Aspirin, Ibuprofen.)
4 - Can be ignored if you are really involved in your work, but still distracting. Mild painkillers remove pain for 3-4 hours.
5 - Can't be ignored for more than 30 minutes. Mild painkillers ameliorate pain for 3-4 hours.
6 - Can't be ignored for any length of time, but you can still go to work and participate in social activities. Stronger painkillers (Codeine, narcotics) reduce pain for 3-4 hours.
7 - Makes it difficult to concentrate, interferes with sleep. You can still function with effort. Stronger painkillers are only partially effective.
8 - Physical activity severely limited. You can read and converse with effort. Nausea and dizziness set in as factors of pain.
9 - Unable to speak. Crying out or moaning uncontrollably - near delirium.
10 - Unconscious. Pain makes you pass out.

Today, I'm at a 4. I spent yesterday and last night at a 6, so I think I should be happy with my day of "4"...but instead I'm borderline whiney. Sheesh. Guess I should get a grip and remember this the next time I decide to overdo. :)

Hi hope, Im glad your at a 2 today one of the best days we can hope for. I am probably at a 3 but that is with my patch on. By the way if we are at a 10 how do we post that? lol

Shirley...the same way you call the law firm of Necksnapper, Kneejerker and Backspasm if you drop dead from taking Avandia...LOL!

I'm glad you're having a good day, Hopegirl!

Since I bonked my nose (in another post) my whole left side has decided to act up. So I've gone from a 2 to a 3 in a few minutes. I never really looked at this chart before (or I forgot about it) so it's interesting to see. I never take over-the-counter pain meds for Fibro because they don't help me ... I'll take Tylenol or Motrin for other pain, like a headache or mild toothache, though. And I don't take my Darvocet unless it gets up to what I'd call about a 5 or 6. Then I can keep functioning pretty well. I've only taken more than 1 in a day one time, I think. My average is probably 1 a week, maybe 2. It seems to short-circuit whatever it is that makes the pain escalate out of control.

luvskirmet- Sorry to hear you were at a 6 but I'm glad you are down to  4 now, bet you would be even happier at a 3-2 right???

Shirley- You had me cracking up over here!! Yeah, I didn't think about the 10 deal myself...lol. Yeah, honestly...this is pretty much as good as it ever gets for me and it's rare. I think that extra day of rest helped me out.

 

Donna- Cracking up at you too, I hope you are in very low numbers today too!!!

 

Debbie- I have to go read your post about your nose! I'm sorry to hear you have additional pain besides Fibro!! Isn't it something how a matter or minutes can really make a difference at certain times? I hope you go back down soon.

 

Yes, I should make a disclaimer, since I take oxy and tramadol, this is where I am with my regular daily meds right now which still is GREAT for me. I think I usually hover around a 4 give or take. But I am not taking any over the counter medication, just pretty much going with the first part of the descriptions.

I"m sorry to hear that!!! Yuckity (as I call it). Not familar with NUCYNTA, is that a pain meds? If so I hope that it gives you some relief soon!!! Rest and feel better soon. I hope you are coming down on the pain scale soon!

Today I'm at a 7 though it's been so long I can't remember having pain below 5, well LOL I take that back, before my old dr left and I was on Lortab 5's and Zanax, I had several days at 2-3 but since the end of June it's been Tylenol and Advil which don't do anything and thus 6 and up.

2 with pain, it comes and goes ;upper back muscle stiff..pain under rib and armpit comes and goes.

having more neuro goofy stuff today, I'm wearing flip flops swearing I have a piece of grass under my big toe, I keep looking nothing there, fingers are funky today.

My neighbors probably (having a heck of time remembering how to spell today) think I have issues..............I do, lol.

I have been doing so well for at least 3 weeks that it was bound to end sad    My lower back is spasming like crazy, that started 2 days ago and is just getting worse, didn't even lift anything or turn weird.   My right ankle feels like I have a bad sprain, been going on for about a week and I didn't do anything to it.   Fingers don't want to work.  The whole front of my neck feels swollen like really swollen glands.  and of course the neck and shoulders, but they hurt all the time.  Throat hurts and so do the eyes, sinuses I think.

I pushed through alot lately but it is getting worse and getting the better of me.  Time for a down day.  I guess my level is about a 7.

I don't take any narcotics, hoping to put that off as long as possible.  I do have Soma but it isn't touching the tenseness (is that a word??)

OK, I am done whining

Has anyone here ever had a 0 day? I don't even know what that feels like but a few months back, I had a 1 day! It was great! I just could not get over how loose and relaxed my muscles felt....:)

I have been at a 7 for years. I don't think I ever tell my drs. that though. I kind of forgot what the pain scale was. Diane

Hmmmm, based on this chart, I guess my average is around 6 then...although I'm not able to work. I just have too many problems with the side effects of the various drugs I take.

To add to my last post..it is worse. One of those headaches that nothing touches, not even fieronol with codine and the soma.

I hate to bltch but I usually don't say antyhing here at home. Hubby always has a comeback such as "I hurt too but I still go to work everyday" But you all here know the feelings and I am grateful for that!
