Well. I saw a new neurologist today. (We moved about
a year ago, so I have been building a new medical team...
)
This guy says the excruciating knee pain I've been having is typical for fibro sufferers. I have also been having terrible low back pain, and MRI reveals moderate DDD, but no nerve impingement. Won't do anything for my low back. So, he feels it's acceptable for me to wake every day to awful low back pain, heating pad, pain meds, sometimes for hours.
Then there's my knee: he believes it's fibro related. He ordered an x-ray, but doesn't think it will show anything. Hmmm...
He is prescribing Elavil to help me get better sleep. I have read that one of the side effects is weight gain. That's just great. I'm about 40 lbs overweight as it is, due to Neurontin and depression, lack of exercise and overall well being.
Would love to hear some opinions and Elavil experiences, both good and bad.
(((gentle hugs)))
