Major flare with loss of bladder control ????

Woke up with a major flare. Got out of bed and lost all control of my bladder,

yup...peed in my pants. Pain is excruciating.... just took a muscle relaxer and

microwaved all my bed buddies. This is first time pain made me wet my pants...

no warning. Has this happened to anyone ?

I have almost lost control and dismissed it as just a side affect of taking a muscle relaxer.. Now when I have had a major spasm flare up of the interstitial cystitis, I have had that nerve to cause my bladder and my intestines to empty. So I guess it stands to reason if it is the sphincter nerve affected it could happen since fibro causes the nerves to send out pain messages to the brain.

I would def. make my doctor aware of it esp if it happens again.

You might have a problem that you need to see an urologist to help you out. (((Gentle hugs)))

Definitely run to your doc. If there is a spinal problem like cauda equina it's an emergency. Symptoms like this are nothing to self-treat.

Hopefully it's just the muscle relaxer. But make the call.

Oh Robin...don't you just hate it when that happens?  I have not had it happen from pain but all of a sudden I am 'leaking'.  Please call your doctor and make sure you don't have an infection or something else going on.  I have read that muscle relaxers can cause this to happen but I'd want to make sure.

I've noticed when I'm in a flare, my bladder is overactive-constantly need to go-I agree with the others, I'd check with your doctor. Let us know how it goes.

Oh ((Robin)) yes, call the doctor asap! I have no idea what would cause this, but sure hope you find out and that it leaves as quickly as it came.

Please let us know how you're doing when you can. I agree, please call the doc just to get a checkup on this. It could be something like the muscle relaxers - but would be safest to hear that from the professionals.

The one time I had something like a leak was after my 10+ hour drive back after seeing my b/f this spring. I got home, took a hot bath, went to sit in a chair and ... oops! I felt so embarrassed. Wasn't much, but it bothered me. I can understand your frustration. *hugs*

This is the story of my life, Robin!  LOL  I wear pads to bed because this happens every night to me.  I'm in a lot of pain when I first get out of bed and I just don't have the control.  I'm sure there is some irritable bladder issues, too, and I have a large inoperable hernia that is pressing on my bladder but I only have this problem at night.  Lying for long periods (a couple of hours) makes my pain much worse so I just don't have control.  I'm too busy trying to get a good breath!  (I find that I hold my breath when the pain is bad and I'm trying to walk.)  This pain is why I have to use a cane at night, too.

 

But, do let your doctor know.  That's always a good rule of thumb.  (Of course I haven't but that's just me.  I ignore a lot...probably too much.)

Just woke up a little ago...and have regained control of my bladder. I think I
overdid while working in my flower garden pulling weeds. My lower back has
some bruising from inflammation and I'm pretty sure that is what caused my
"pee pants" Bruising there is pretty common for me, so I'm not worried.

I'll be OK...having dueling flares...Fibro and MCTD acting up... achiness, swelling
and a couple fresh lesions on my forehead. I'm super fatigued and going to
rest now. ThankYou, my friends for your concern and well wishes!

I haven't had any loss of bladder control but aometimes I will just get that hard surge of pain and it doesn't matter what I am doing or where I am I will throw up. It actually just happened to me today while I was driving home from the library. I guess we all have our UN-control issues. Hope it gets better for you!!
