Hi All,

Okay so today I had my doc appt and she asks me how has everything been going? I told her that I have been having flare up after flare up and she says to me what do I mean I said my fibro has been flaring up she has no clue about fibro. Anyway ever since I have told her about my going to a rheumy because she kept telling me nothing was wrong with me she has really been acting kind of different with me she acts like she does'nt seem like she wants to treat me for anything anymore, so I asked her if she had a problem and she just said that I went to another doctor without letting her know anything so I said what was I suppose to do you kept telling me for the last 2 years nothing was wrong me and I knew something was I know my own body. Well now she acts like she can't treat me for some other medical issues (like migraines) I have that she has been treating me for she keeps telling me she needs recommendations from my rheumy before she does anything. Anyway she was gonna put me out on temporary disability leave for depression and some other things and now she has changed her mind this sucks.

Sorry to vent just needed someone to talk to.

Stacy,   I'm sorry to hear about this. It really does not make sense.

 

Have you tried coming right out and asking her why she has changed her mind about the  migraines, and the other issues you mentioned?

 

 Also,  maybe it will help if you ask her exactly what she needs from the Rheumy.

 Maybe if you get that cleared up she will be more willing to help with the disability and anything else you need.

 

She really should do the things she said she would do for you.

 

Let us know what happens kay.

Some doctors like to think of themselves as "Gods" and this seems like one of those times. She didn't like being second guessed but I certainly would have done the same thing. I really hope everything works out for you

Yes, some of them make it all about them, rather than about you. Sorry you had to find one of those!

I think it is time for a new dr. Someone who understands fibro and doesn't let her ego get in the way.

sounds like time to fire this doctor and get a new one. Every time I saw my doctor about the pain, he would mumble to himself and order the same tests over and over again. The tests would come back negative and he would send me a note saying nothing was wrong with me and I would feel foolish and not go back for several months. Once my ANA was elevated and he never followed up on it. I did this a few times before tiring of him and finding a new doctor.

Can you get a new doctor?

Hello my friends,

Thank you for your replies I am in the process of changing my doctors I just need to make sure they are familiar with fibro the receptionist at my current doctors doesnt want me to go but I told her its just not working out anymore and the doc just doesnt get it she says to talk with her again I'm getting tired of talking I've been at this office since 2000 and I asked for my records and they said they dont have my records that far back only the last 3 years so what do I do now will I have to go back get all those tests done again? I hope not.

I just can't believe they didn't keep your older records! Aren't they required to, by law? They may be harder to find, but gone?? I have no idea what you can do about this, but - wow. Sometimes I wish I could be more like my sister-in-law. She's a real pain sometimes, and they may hate her by the time she leaves, but when she leaves she'll have what she wants! (I usually think of what to do or say when it's too late.)

Hope you can get them - they're yours!

Call the lab where you've had your blood work done. If your doctor uses an outside lab(and they prob. did, esp for ANA, ) they should be able to help you. As far as your doctors receptionist goes, by law your doctor is required to keep all of your records if your an active patient. So put a little pressure on them to get them. They belong to you.

     I am kind of in the same boat that you are in. My primary Dr was looking at me like I was insane and of course all the tests that were done came back negative, until he did a full blood panel on me and my RA factor was through the roof. I went to a Rheumy as well and LOVED her, unfortunately she doesn't treat FM. So, here I am going to a new one on friday and my primary seems like he doesn't want to even treat me for my migraines as well. He has been treating me for them for 10 years and now all of a sudden I am too much of a hastle to treat for a common cold, at least that is how it seems. So, needless to say I will not be seeing any more! I would get your records from your Rheumy and see as to why your primary refuses to treat you now and what you have to do to get disability. Sounds like you knocked your doctor her off her throne, Stacy!  smilewinkgrin I'm glad you found out now.  She probably graduated in the bottom half of her class and flunked Compassion 101! 

 

I never tell my Internist when I go to another doctor.  When I see him the next time, I will tell him who I've seen.  I don't need referrals.  I see several specialists along with my Internist.  So, the problems lies with your soon to be "ex" doctor.

 

I'm glad you are changing.  You need a doctor that understands fibro and fibro lingo!  Let us know when you get a good one!  Try to make sure they are board certified and, if possible, a diplomate.  They have to keep abreast of the new things in medicine and take a test to prove it!
