Hello everyone.

I thought that I would introduce myself. I am 33 years old. I was diagnosed this morning with fibromyalgia. I have been to so many doctors and had so many tests that I am not sure if I can even remember them all. I have problems with Chest pains (unexplainable), tiredness, numbness and tingling of fingers and toes, Migraines, and more BLECH!!!  I hae been to PCP, neurologist, ENT, and allergist. Finally today the doctor (PCP) gave me Savella that I will be starting tonight. I am Scared to start this journey now that I have a name to what has been with me for the last three years!! I am also taking amitriptiline for headaches. So hopefully this will start me out to feeling some better. I can't wait to learn all that I can from here about my fibromyalgia

Hi, Teddy, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  I'm sorry you have this illness but we will help you learn to have a full and enjoyable life in spite of fibro.  I know I have!

 

First of all, be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.

 

In Fibro 101, there is a link about costochondritis.  That causes the chest pains.  I have that.  Read that link and see if it sounds like you.  My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food for that and it does ease it somewhat.  It comes and goes for me.

Thanks Sherrine. That does sound alot like what I have. I need to bring that up at my next appointment. Mine also comes and goes. I wish that it would just go!! lol I don't have that kind of luck though!! Thanks I hope tp get to know everyone soon

Hi tededybr3174, welcome to our fibro family, sorry you have to have this but Im sure it is in a way a relief to have a diagnosis finally. We have a great group here that are always willing to help out with advice if we can. Two things to remember is one: you have fibro it does not have you so dont let it control you. Two is: take one day at a time there are always going to be bad days with fibro but there will always be good ones too. I am glad that you found us and please feel free to ask questions, vent when you need too or offer advice to others.

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear you have fibro, but glad that you have a diagnosis! Hopefully now they'll be able to treat you with the proper care you need.

Welcome, Teddy! Just diagnosed today? Wow, your head must really be swimming. It probably will be for quite awhile, with all the new info you'll have to digest. Fibro - as you know - isn't fun, but it isn't fatal, either, though sometimes it sure feels that way!

This forum is a great place to learn more, and make friends! Many's the time I've come on here feeling downright miserable and left feeling much more hopeful, so I hope your experience is positive, too.

Hi Teddy and Welcome. You sound exactly like me. I am also 33 and they started me on Savella as well, I was diagnosed last year. My symptoms started in 1997 after a severe car accident and could never find what was wrong, now the Savella isn't cutting it. At first it was great, I think the only reason it stopped working for me was because I had a few surgeries for kidney stones that started a massive flare up. I hope it does great for you! I am very sorry that you were diagnosed with FM but you will have found a great family here with us!
