I was told a few months ago by my Roummy that I had firbo, but they did nothing to help the pain that I am having. My old pain management doc gave me 900mg of Neurontin every 8 hours and it kinda takes the edge off but it isnt working alone. I am in between pain management doctors for severe leg pain. The pain is in my calves and thight and it is a deep tissue pain. It has been going on for almost a year now and I am about to loose my mind. I am going to the doc tomorrow to see if maybe it is something else and I was thinking about requesting Lyrica. Can I mix the two? which has worked best for you? Does this leg pain sounds like Fibro. or maybe something else? I do have lupus but the leg pain and lupus has not been conected. please anyone help i am at my witts end with this severe leg pain

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have the pain in my hips and thighs and so far my doctor is saying it's the fibro. I've never taken gabapentin and unfortunatley this illness is a trial and error kind of thing with meds. What works for one may not work for another. Stick with your doc and let them know if you have side effects from the combination.

Hi: I don't think the drs have a full handle on exactly what fibro is, some say its in the family of arthritis but it is a neurological condition/disease/whatever. Look up fibro on the net. I have had it for 10 yrs now and the one thing i do know there is no easy way w/the meds. everything is trial & error. Mine is not localized but is overall body pain. As for the Lyraca, ask your dr and if it doesn't mix well w/what else you are taking, your dr should know that. I know some who do very well on lyraca. I just started on the gabapentin-300mgs and I know its doing some good in keeping the pain in the background but helps big time in clearer thinking ... i hope.

Hi,
I'm sorry for all your pain. I simply wanted to say I take lyrica and do very well on it. My doctor told me it is kind of a newer different version of what makes up neurontin. Therefore it seems unlikely to me a doctor would have you take both. My best to you. Pain is such a personal burden.

Hi daniJav,
Welcome to our fibro family. I have been taking Lyrica for about 4 months now 50mgs twice a day it has helped me a whole lot. Recently my rheumy increased my lyrica up to 75mgs twice a day along with gabapentin 300 mgs twice a day I,m not sure if the gabapentin is working or not because my pain is still the same since i started it. But anyway I think Lyrica for me has been great.
