I am new to the site - fibromyalgia for 25 years. Interested in anything new about
treatment and what Substance P is all about.

Hi pol and welcome to our fibro family, I cant respond to your poll because for me it is all of the above. I think there has to be a mixture of all of them in order to really be able to live a satisfying life.
I really don't know much about the substance P, I have heard it mentioned but research and I dont seem to get along very well as it all seems to go over my head and I dont understand alot of what I have read. Never have been good with medical terminology but my age is slowing down my cognitive abilities and having fibro doesnt help.
I hope someone can give you more information on it. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that you have found a great bunch of people here who are all very supportive. Don't be afraid to ask questions, vent if you need too or offer advice to others. Hope to hear from you soon.
Gentle Hugs

I agree with sotired on your poll, everything has helped me. I think that with chronic conditions like Fibro you have to make lifestyle changes, get enough rest, take Rx as needed, and get lots of support, and exercise as well as you can.
As far as I can understand it, substance P is something that is made in the body's spinal column, and it has to do with how a person processes pain. It has been discovered that people with Fibro have less Substance P in their bodies, which causes us to feel pain more acutely. I am not a doctor, but I have some understanding of medical stuff, and this I what I was able to get from the articles I read. (I may be wrong, if I am someone please correct me!)
I hope this helps!

I thought it was more Substance P, and less Serotonin and other feel-good stuff..? but maybe I got it wrong.
