Endometrial Cryoablation? females

I've never had this done but I think my daughter did for endometriosis.  It was done as an out patient procedure and it wasn't a long procedure.  She rested for a few days and was back to her normal self and had no endometrial pain!

I normally don't frequent this forum but I seen your question and thought I would share my experience.

I had this procedure 3 years ago. The doctor inserted these soft wooden sticks into my cervix a week before the procedure. These sticks have some sort of sea weed properties that opens the cervix naturally. It can be done without it but it's a bit harsher and painful according to my GYN. It was slightly uncomfortable but it wasn't bad. On the day of the procedure (which was done in his office), he had me take a narcotic pain reliever before I went into his office. Once there, he gave me a shot of a strong anti-inflammatory, a valium and an additional narcotic pain med. I was feeling quite good! lol Some docs will do this in the hospital and put you under slight anesthesia.

After an hour of waiting for the meds to kick in, he had me lie on the table and he did the procedure. I felt nothing. My husband drove me home. To this day, I have not had a period which is awesome because the main reason I had mine done was because my cycles were getting increasingly painful - think 10 on the pain scale and I wasn't having normal periods - random, short days and with old bleeding.

After the procedure, I had some severe cramping but it only lasted a day and after that I was a bit tender for about a week.

I'm having it done in 2 weeks. I have such painful cycles and I also have vulva pain before and during my cycle. I'm hoping it helps.

I had the cryoablation done on 11-18-10. I was given meds to take before an hour before my appointment time. It makes you loopy so be sure to have someone with you to drive. I was given headphones with music and I fell asleep during the procedure. I had a couple twinges of pain but that was it. I was sore the next day and had some mild pain. I also had some stomach pain, which I believe was from the meds I was given. Saturday I was fine and went back to work. One thing that I read somewhere else, is some people have had skin irritation from the discharge. It is supposed to last up to three weeks. Their suugsetion was to use diaper rash ointment for the irritation. I have been using a small amount once a day to help prevent the irritation.
