It just occured to me...

Maybe you are anemic. Isn't that what low iron levels cause? I am not rightly sure. But yes, I would carry the blood work to him and ask him about it. But for iron being low, you can eat beets, liver and one other thing that I can't remember. Fibrofog big time. I thought that there was another, oh yes, raisins. They are all good for iron and spinache is suppose to be too. So maybe if you are in a flare and you eat these things, you might feel better, you never can tell unless you give it a try.

But yes, ask the doc if there are any connections about how your blood levels are when you are in a flare. Are they normal otherwise? This is interesting. What were the other ones that were low?

Hope you figure this out and when you do, let me know. I am curious.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in October and I also have blood levels that are out of whack. I didn't think it was related to the fibro, hematologists have told me for years I probably have lupus and that i will just continue to get more symptoms( that was nice to hear at age 19) but for about 11 years I stayed about the same- low platelets and fatigue. And my platelets gradually got closer to normal as time went by. But about a year ago my white blood cell count started showing up low and shortly after my platelet count has slowly been getting lower... then 4 months ago I started to have joint pain and some days pain every where that seems to, well its hard to explain, its every where but at the same time its moving around to different parts of my body. I was given tramadol for that and I have felt better for a few weeks, I hope it doesn't come back! My whole point I guess is I've only been diagnosed with fibro but my body is attacking my blood, too. ( I think) Oh, and now my back and shoulders ( and joints) pop and crackle.

I have to take a lot of iron daily.  If I don't, I'm anemic.  I also have Crohn's disease so I'm not sure where the anemia is coming from.

Yes our symptoms are similar, and I also have a negative ANA. Thankfully my blood levels aren't low enough to require treatment, a lot of those medications scare me and I already took prednisone and swore I'd only take it again if my life depended on it. What was wrong with your blood results? If you don't mind me asking.

well, I got some interesting news, some not so good news and some possible bad news.

1) first I learned that anemia and low iron are two differant things. since my b-12 levels are still in the range (low normal) and the blood cells themselves do not show anemia, I have low blood iron and not pernicious anemia. So, since my levels keep going up and down we need to find out why. How, I don't know. (maybe it was discussed, maybe not, cannot remember.) He also said that low blood iron was a metal needed in the cell and pernicious anemia was related to a vitamin.

2) he is leaning towards a connective tissue disorder. something in the line of lupus or sjogrens?? I have to get lots and lots of blood work done. He is asking for everything to be checked. I also have to see a specialist at an eye hospital regarding the problems I seem to have with my eyes. a regular eye doctor says that my eyes are just stressed and that I have to be faking the eye exams because their tests are not saying that I have that much of a vision issue. But I cannot see clearly out of my right eye, its almost like it has a gel coating to it and no matter what setting they use I still can not see clearly out of it. So, I will be seeing an eye doctor in an eye hospital. And, of course, I still have the regular fibro aches and pains going along with all this.

3) My mri results are back and not so good. My brain seems to be fine so ms can be ruled out. But, I have a really large mass on my left thyroid. It is so big that it is pushing my trache over and squeezing it up against the other side of my neck. I have to go for a biopsy on the 14th. the doctor doesnt seem to think that it is my thyroid itself because all my blood work comes up negative for thyroid. So, its either a cyst or a solid mass (which they cannot tell if it is cancer or not till the biopsy.) This is the reason for the sore throat, jaw and ear ache. I have been dealing with these symptoms for many years and never did anyone ever think to check my thyroids with an mri. I just wonder how many years ago this could have been resolved and saved me undo aches and pains that were treated like they were all in my head. well they were, almost.

Fibro, possible cancerous tumor, low blood iron, and possible lupus - no wonder I am so darn exhausted. I just hope something is figured out before I end up bedridden.
