Is anyone taking savella for their fibro? My doc put me on yesterday.

Hi mspain, welcome to the forum...our fibro family. The people here are grest...
understanding and caring.

I'm on Savella...been on it for almost a year and a half with no bad side effects.
My rhuemy initially gave me 2, 2week triation packs, so that my body adjusted to
it slowly. It took a month before I was on the full daily dosage of 50mgs 2x a day.

We all tollerate meds so differantly. You will hear others says they could not
tollerate it...taking meds is all trial and error...what works for one might not work
for another. Let your doctor know if you are having any adverse symptoms.

Be sure to check out fibro 101 on the top of pg. 1. Sherrine has put together an
excellent resource of helpful info for us.

Hi it's nice to talk to people who know what it's like to live with this illness. I have had fibro for many years now.1992 I think is when my family doc told me that I had it.I went to him telling him I felt as though I'd been ran over by a bus! I've been told by many of doctors that it's in my head. so glad they have finally are aware of it now and are starting to help us who need it. How has the savella worked for you? Pain, depression, aniexity,panic attacks, sleep, memory, being able to say words rightor even have the right word.. did it help with any of these? Like I told my doc I'll try anything. I have had so many opperations that I have nothing left to take out trying to find out whats going on. They even send me to mayo clinc and I left there with no answers after many test. I finally got to were I wouldn't even talk about it to my doctors anymore. I can almost deal with the pain it's the lack of energy and memory that I'm having a proplem dealing with. Now I'm having blurred vision.

I recently started my second attempt at Savella. Like Robin, my doctor gave me two of the titration packs so I would slowly ease into the regular dosage. I never made it to the full dose the first time because of side effects (jaw pain/excruciating squeezing headaches that made it feel like my head was going to explode).

Recently I read that some people get this from SSRI's (which is exactly what I experienced on Lexapro), but when coupled with buspar that it offsets the teeth clenching and headaches. When I spoke with my doctor about it, she decided to pair the buspar with Savella since it gave me amazing pain relief, renewed energy, and the fog lifted. I couldn't remember the last time I felt such "clarity".

Anyway, I only started this new regime last Friday so I'm still on a very low dose. Only side effects so far are minimal nausea and some sweating. These are definitely tolerable compared to the amount of relief I get, so I'm praying that this combination is my answer to prayers. I do feel a bit "anxious" and have to take Ambien to sleep, but I don't have lingering fatigue in the morning when I'm on Savella.

I truly hope that Savella provides some relief and "gives you your life back".

I'm really hoping the Savella works for you! It took about 6 weeks before I noticed
any noticeable change...it helped take the edge off the achiness. I'm still foggy and
am really foggy when I'm flaring.

Being active helps me, I try to walk daily, and everyday I take time to do deep
breathing and meditation for relaxation.

I have also use muscle relaxers for flares and take vitamin D for achiness and B 12
for energy.

I sure hope it works for you. I went to the Dr. several months ago. He said he thought I may have fibromyalgia & said I could try something for it. He gave me the Savella packs. I was on it for a not even a week and it made me really mean and paranoid. My husband made me stop taking it. I never went back to the Dr. to try anything else.

But, like someone else said. Everyone else is different, and sure hope it helps!!

i've beem on savella for about 5 months and im doing very well and im on a variety of other pain medacations which normally would be a problem but i'm actually doing very well and i think if your doctor thinks you shpuld be on it then give it a chance and watch you heart rate and blood pressure and your mood it may be a sign of rare condition called seretonin syndrome but if you are on tramadol its possible
