Hi all,
I have noticed that a lot of yall refer to God alot in your messages. I am a Christian, and was wondering if anyone would like to get a prayer chain going? I think it would be a tremendous help for those requesting prayer and those doing the praying. Since it;s such an issue to bring up our beliefs these days maybe we could e-mail each other instead of using the open forum? This is something thats been on my mind lately and thought I;d throw it out there..

Moderators what is your opinion on this?

Anyone interested please email me, and help me come up with ideas since this is new to me as far as starting anything of this sort. g/b/w.

I am a believer, Barbara. Doctors have even mentioned how patients who pray and patients who are being prayed for, seem to fare better. I pray every day. I think you have a good, sound idea.

I pray over these forums every day...but perhaps the Forum Administrator Pete would consider creating a new folder called Prayer Requests, and people could post their specific prayers there. Then anyone wishing to pray could see the specifics.

What are your thoughts?

Hi all...

Lots of times people either ask for or offer prayers for members and their families. I also believe it's beneficial. I'm not sure about starting a thread/topic for it. Pete, the forum admin, has a subject in the forum rules about 'no overly religious' posts, as in promoting a certain religion. It's not because of his personal faith but to avoid conflict or becoming a site that promotes one over another. I think it's well worth emailing him and asking about it. By giving it a special area or thread it might be OK...I have no idea. Can't hurt to ask.

Oh, I do believe in prayer but, as Chutz said, Peter has a rule about it.  We can't have posts that are overtly religious.  Many times I want to say more because my faith has helped me so much with my health issues BUT not everyone believes like I do.  There are many religions out there and this forum reaches many countries.  I think Peter has this rule so as not to upset people of other faiths or no faith.

 

So, I do think it is highly unlikely that Peter will use space on the forum for something like that.  (This is just my personal opinion.)  As Chutz said, it won't hurt to ask.  He tries to keep adding more health forums to our list.  He added several last year.  Also, space is limited but that is important to him.  It's the whole reason for HealingWell...support for these illnesses.  But there is nothing that can stop anyone from emailing each other.  Just make sure your email is in your profile and any HealingWell member can reach you that way.

I think it's a great idea. I am also a believer. I think most religions pray don't they? Thats whats nice about haveing a thread then one can choose to go in or not. Count me in too

I was just going to ask for prayer for my situation when I saw this post!  This is a prayer answered in itself!  I would love to be a part of a prayer chain if you start one!

My prayer request was going to be... for the strength to do the things in my home that need done.  I want to do so many things right now, but feel so tired and often need to sit or lie down.  It seems I can never accomplish what I want to, then I feel guilty, like a failure to my family and myself.  My pain meds help, but they make me tired too!  Anyhow, if you would, please offer up a prayer for me.  Just for a little bit more energy and strength.  I know we all need it.  I'd appreciate it.

As stated before, put your email in your profile.  Then, those that are interested in forming their off-forum group will know how to reach one another. That way, only HealingWell members will see your contact info...instead of the whole world! 

 

We are not allowed to get overtly religious on any of the forums on HealingWell...Forum Rule #11.

I;m home most of the day and would love to lift prayers to those who request it.
Please feel free to e-mail me with your requests, you can be as detailed or vague as you wish. Only you and I will know what your requests are. With all the troubles in the world today, my constant prayer is for peace. The true peace that can only come from God. With His peace, that no matter what is thrown our way, we know in the long haul all this pain we live with daily is durable because of the reward in the end.

I've been out of sorts for awhile and not on line...first, I agree with Sherrine, let's post our personal emails and go from there. My faith is what has gotten me throught the past several months and for that matter day by day..

 

I would LOVE to be a part of that...let's all make sure our emails are on our profiles..

 

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season..I'm sure if you are like me, we are now paying the price for doing TOO much!

Is it poss. that you could have someone come in every week or so to help w/house cleaning? I can;t afford it, but it sure would be easier to keep things straight if you could get ahead start like that. I can;t keep house like I used to either. I:m ashamed of it. But like everyone on here knows, u have to go slow, take breaks and try not to be to hard on yourself..We have a disease. It;s not something you choose to get or brought on by any of your actions, so do what you can, but PACE!!
I have to nap everyday, usually 1 hr;s good enough, if I don;t I;m too tired to do anything at all..Godspeed..Barbara

Aw, that is such a sweet idea, I HOPE I say a prayer after reading each post just silent like. I believe in the power of prayer and feel quite dedicated to a particular on line prayer chain.

I think a side effect of prayer is like playing boomerrang. I sit in my broken, but wouldn't give away for nothin, recliner turn tv off, no phone no distraction. I read these peoples stories and pray as deeply as I can for many many people who need help and who make my problems miniscule. I can feel the very prescence of God . And it is cool.

I have encountered not only sick people but sick people with kids on drugs, houses in foreclosure, no money for rent, electricity being cut off the list goes on. Life is difficult, but I am grateful for sooooo many things shall I list? food (LOVE to eat) was a time when I was so sick with this sic tic I could not keep food down or in, but now mmm. Let's see sleep, books, writing (although I am slacking) my love hate relationship with husband, just kiddin, my cat. Hmm, my horse he is so sweet he swells my heart. my dogs, my hubby who is a champ to take this illness like he does and care for the animals for me when I can't which is a lot. I am glad I can get out some (whew can it be a challenge to get washed and dressed and get the energy) to go to the store or restaurant or church but these outings are good. Did I mention friends? Kind generous parents, heat (its freezing out there) heating pads, pain killers, well it goes on and on. And look at this group a bunch of people helping other people and moderators commiting even though they do not feel good.

Most of all I'm grateful my two kids seem well, I do wonder, but while they both show some "leftovers" from borrelia they do pretty well and they are sharp, not like me who says " could u pass the windshield wiper?" LOL my friends and my close family are very astute; they understand what I mean (eventually.)

I have learned how some people are unkind to "slow" people and some are saints (had some trouble counting money and showing confusion out of the house) should have NEVER gone to my 30th reunion, yikes, but anyway what's done is done : )

I am so glad someone thought of a prayer chain even if its not official because God is bigger than any dr, any diagnosis, any pain or any problem, and this life is quite temporary. But what we do with it is rather important.

Just wanted to say I'm thankful for my fibro friends that believe in God.  There has been twice since I've been on this forum that I really needed prayer.  Once with my husband and once with my son.  I didn't care what your belief was, I just needed prayer.  For my friends out there that doesn't believe I felt their love and thoughts going out for me at that time.  It was so comforting to know people all over the nation knew about my situation. 

 

I always sign God bless with my signature.  It doesn't matter what God you pray to or if you pray.  He's just been so good to me and I feel I can't leave him out.

 

I don't believe the prayer chain would be allowed on this forum because someone's feeling might be hurt and I sure wouldn't want that.  I do think though, that the ones that do believe should be able to ask when they are in need of prayer.

Thank you Barbo.  I appreciate your suggestions and support so much!  :)  Sometimes I feel like I'm just lazy and I hate that.  It's nice to be reassured that it's not my fault.  My husband helps alot with the housework.  I can't really afford to pay anyone to come in.  We are struggling with money, and that makes things harder.  I am thankful though, for all I've got.  And I'm thankful for all my friends on here!  :)  It's a comfort.

I am sending love and healing prayers to everyone on this forum who wants and needs them.  I am even sending them to myself as I am in dire need of much love and prayers!  I will appreciate yours as well.

Yikes...we are already in mid-month!  In spite of my aching hands and feet time goes fast...may be because I'm getting old.  I remember when I was younger a week seemed as long as a month is now.

roseinjanuary, how elegant and pleasant your comments are. You truly lifted my heart reading it. I so often get caught up in the pain and depression I forget the small blessings. I hope to be able to hold on to these thoughts when I:m feeling sick, which is pretty much a constant now days.
I think that the feeling of being worthless and useless is harder than the physical and mental pain of fibro. I so want to be able to do what I used to enjoy. No joy rides, walking in the mall or outdoors, no concerts, movies, even grocery shopping would be a plus at this point.
I would like to promise that i;ll do the best I poss. can to lift you all in prayer as often as I can. I would like to ask for prayer for me too plz. My depression and pain are at an all time high. I have noticed that I can go days without a smile or find pleasure in much of anything. I;m just flat-lined. Sorry about the negative, but I;m just being honest. Thank You all for your concern and prayers, it does help so much to know that I;m not totally alone in this journey.

Donnie's girl: I was just incredulous when I read the part about you wondering if you are just lazy or sick. I struggle with this WHEN I am NOT in severe pain, but so dog gone tired (or God forbid?) lazy to climb the stairs. When I am in pain I know something is wrong but when I am just pooped out and don't want to get up I start to doubt myself, glad to know I am not the only one who has pondered this. I found wellbutrin to help, some, with the overwhellming fatigue, not a miracle worker but it helps more than anything, at times. Its expensive and we too have a rather, well, deficit, going on here (expenses exceed income) so I applied with bridges to access and it is free!! Just a thought.

Barbara I am so sorry u go days w/o a smile that is just unacceptable so you are going to go to the top of mi prayer list. We need to get u smilin and laughin. Get ready for some Holy Spirit God is awesome. That said, of course I understand your depression I found journaling it down to be helpful and I think the wellbutrin mentioned above has been helpful.

I guess it's Sunday now, I wonder if I will be able to get out of bed and make church, family joke is I am nicer for the week when I go. If we miss church hubby says, "oh boy it's gonna be a hard week." Meaning I will be mean. I hope (?) he is at least, half kidding. Who knows /come to think of it the first thing my best friend says to me when we talk is "did you go to church?" Wow.

I, for one am not offended by anyone's personal opinion. I thank God we live in a country where we are entitled to express our opinion as long as we express it without physically harming anyone.

I continue to send healing prayers to and for anyone who needs them and wants them. I am grateful for all prayers from all believers.

See, members!  This is exactly what I was trying to tell you would happen.  Donnie's Girl, what you have said about prayer is offensive to atheists!  I would say atheism is a belief, too.  This is why Peter has the rules that he does.  So, we will ALL observe Rule #11.  If you want to tell someone you will pray for them, or if you want to just say please pray for me, or if you want to say that God is good, these are acceptable...a simple comment.  But you don't go further.  Most of us don't get offended but we do have to be mindful of those that do not believe like we do. 

 

I am now locking this thread.  As I said before, please observe our rules.  I definitely will be editing if you don't....and I'm a believer!  We all agreed when we became members to follow the forum rules.  I also agreed to uphold the forum rules as a moderator and I will keep my word.  I hope you all understand.
