Hi, I was just diagnoised with Fibro yesterday.  My doctor had been playing around with the idea that I had it for a year, but in the last month my symptoms have gotten worse.  I also have Crohn's and Intestinal Cystitis. I've had Crohn's for 11 years and in December had a resection surgery and had 15" of my intestine removed.  The IC was just diagnoised two weeks ago.  Oh the joys of diseases that have no cure or do not know how they occur!  My doctor prescribed Lyrica.  I will start tonight.  A bit nervous, but just hope it helps with the muscle pain.  It feels like I've been working out for 24 hours straight!  I need to do some research on Fibro, but I did so much of that for my crohn's and the resection surgery, I'm researced out!  I have been coming to HealingWell for awhile now for the Crohn's, so now I'll be a vistor here too.  I'm glad this site is here, and from what I've read so far it looks like there are a lot of caring and wonderful people here.  Thank you!!

Hi Beans Chic and welcome to our fibro family. Im sorry you have so much going on but I know that you will love all the members here. We have a great caring and support system here. We all understand what it is like to be in pain.

Feel free to ask questions, vent when you need to and offer support to others when you can. Also be sure to check out fibro 101 at the top of the forum. It has alot of interesting links there.

Hi Bean's Chic, Welcome to the forum...home of the friendly fibromites!

A great place to start researching fibro is right here. Checkout fibro 101 on top og page 1. Sherrine has put together a great resource for us.

This forum is a wonderful support place. You will learn a lot from other members experiances. What I've learned is to keep moving, exercise...heat helps and pacing yourself is important.

We also tolerate meds differantly...what works for one might not work for another. I hope the Lyrica is helpful...I'm on Savella and it has helped some.

So glad you have joined us. Post often, we care!

Thank you Sotiredoffirbro and Crazykitty!! I was talking to my niece last nght who is a nurse and she asked how they determined I had Fibro. She said they have to do many tests to eliminate everything else before they determine that is what I have. She works with someone that has it and he often is so bad that he can't work and takes percocet every day. Well, I'm not that bad. Will I get worse? After speaking with her I realized that I never had any tests to eliminate anything. Between my reg doc and I talking about it for a year and my urologist saying "it sounds like you have Fibro" that's all it took for my doc to give me the prescription for Lyrica. I know I need to speak with my doctor about all of this. I am frustrated at all the testing and procedures I've had in the last few months. I can't imagine continuing this. If I don't have Fibro then I have no idea what is causing these symptoms. It's so confusing and aggravating.
No matter what though, I always say to myself "It could always be worse". That helps, some!

I agree that you need to get bloodwork to eliminate any other possibilities...it will give you peace of mind too:)

Give your doc a call, many of us have been diagnosed by a rheumy, some an internist. It is good to have a doc who is Board Certified.

Hi, Bean's Chic, and welcome!  I'm glad you popped over to our forum.  I'm sorry you have fibro but we might be able to help you in that area.  I also have Crohn's and did lose my colon to that illness.  But, since that surgery, I'm doing fine.  I hope you will be fine, too.

 

Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Don't hesitate to ask questions, either, because we are here to help you. 

 

I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.  I hope to hear more from you soon.
