The only advice I can give you is, see a different neurologist. My first neuro didn't believe things I told him, he too did an MRI, 2 of them, and EMG's. He didn't believe I actually had neuropathy, and didn't believe that gluten could have anything to do with my issues. When the neuro I really had wanted to see, got in touch with me and asked if I still wanted to see him, I left the first neuro. My neuro now KNOWS that gluten was my initial issue, causing all my other problems. Sometimes we just have got to find the right doctor before we learn more.
Don't settle, keep after the doctors. This sounds serious, find a new neuro, a highly recommended one. My neuro has a 6 month waiting period, but when he found out (in another forum, he read a post of mine, then emailed me, how cool is that) I wanted him as my doctor, he got me an appt in less than 6 weeks, I have been with him since that time!
