Heat intolerance?

Anyone suffer from heat intolerance?, from either over doing it or walking out in the heat to long? When I get over heated I feel worse. I get increase in pain, headache, nausea and sometimes diarrhea. It also wipes me out and makes me feel more tired. I am scheduled to see a neuro md tues. to rule out multiple sclerosis.

I don't suffer from heat intolerance, KL, but I have a friend who has MS, and she has to be very careful in the heat. She has a cooling vest she wears. I hope you don't have MS, but if you do, a quick diagnosis is the best thing. My friend is doing very well with her treatment.

I tend to feel better in the heat vs. the cold. Not swampy weather or heat with extreme humidity, no thank you to that. That will cramp me up as you describe and can make me feel awful too.

Brutal cold I can't tolerate.

I sometimes think I don't have fibro. I feel like I am slowly dying. When I have these flareups it feels as though someone hit me with a dumb stick, my mental capacity just goes...duh...and I can't think. Something is wrong, I just don't think my diagnosis of fibro is right, or maybe Im just in denial.

Yes, I have heat intolerance. If I get over heated, I feel shaky, light headed, nauseous and headachy.

I have a very fine line for this topic.  Heat is much better for me than cold, but, I can't take it too hot.  I wilt like a daisy.  I get just like Red-34 if it's too hot.  I had heat stroke when I was a teen and I have never been able to handle the heat since that day.

I have had heat intolerance for years but this year I'm in for a new treat add menopause to this and I am so looking forward to summer heat, lol. I'm getting ready to spend a great amount of time in the bathtub, or have hubby put up the pool.

I find that I tend to get over heated and sweat like crazy.
But I also like sitting in the sun more then ever.
Yeah, I know I can't. I burn like crazy and my meds say not too.
My feet and hands are cold more then not.
I still sleep with a heating pad for my feet with the covers off. lol
Hang in there everyone and keep your chins up.

I prefer the heat to cold for sure! Cold = more pain and lots of it.  Heat my body loves painwise it seems but too much I get dizzy, nauseous and extremely fatigued.   I really gotta watch how long I stay outside.

I also am very heat intolerant. My symptoms are like Red_34's. Even as a child I couldn't tolerate the heat. I remember one year I tried to play softball for my school. They asked me to quit because every time I'd get in the outfield, if it was sunny and hot I would pass out! It scared everyone else, but I got used to it after a while. Now it's like a sudden heat wave and I'm done for the day. I live in a very humid area, so it might be different in a dryer climate.

anyway yes I also am very heat intolerant, just a few Min. in the heat will make me ill. Sick to my tummy and cause me to flare in pain. I also seem to have a broken thermostat. I wil break out into a sweat for no reason and kep it up for hours. I have to prety much sit with a fan close by. then my skin gets cold to the touch and . well that makes me hurt so . its a no win for me. constanly trying to coveer then uncover and turn the fan on myself and then turn it away ... LOL its not realy funny . but you do have to laugh. if just to keep my sanity. ??

Heat makes me feel very sick. Like I feel nauseous, weak, tired, etc. Yet, on the opposite end, cold makes me hurt more. I really can't win.

Last year my fiance and I had to spring for an one room air conditioner for our bedroom. I was dying. I'm thankful for it like you wouldn't believe!

I like the heat but my body does not. I sweat like a..a..a...pig (for lack of a better word). I will be working in the garden or even just sitting on the porch and my shirt is literally soaked, I am not well endowed at all but where I sweat one would think I was. LOL

Rose, I am getting my pool ready so I can jump in the heat of summer. I used to do that after shoveling my horse stalls in the heat of summer and it did feel good!!

Although I tolerate the heat much better than the cold, I find that I am more sensitive to the heat than I used to be.  It is easy for me to overdo it, as I really like the hot weather.  When I overdo, I find that I start sweating profusely, feel nauseated, and later start developing the body aches.

I am recently diagnosed fibro..i am still unclear if this is what I have. My doctor didn't do any testing just "its fibromyalgia take these". My one issue is the heat, I used to love the heat, I could spend all day on the beach no problems, I always loved swimming so that has helped me now. In the last year I cant ... Litterly cant go in the heat, I feel like I am burning, everything is tripple fold with symptoms. My hubby has caught me more than once crying in a cold shower because I just can't cool down. I often get temperatures of 100+ which magically disappear once i go into an air-conditioned room... Or my van. I have ice pack body suits that feel so good. I have a close friend with fibromyalgia and from what she tells me she is not affected by heat, more by cold and she often uses a heating pad. The thought of using a heating pad on me makes me cringe. Nice cool days ... I feel sooooo much better. We shall see what the winter brings I guess.

I have HORRIBLE heat intolerance. Same symptoms as those mentioned previously.

I cannot be in direct sun,makes my muscles and bones painful and I get extreme confusion and fatigue.

Too much cold does same too.

too much sun and cognitive function is disabled for me.lol...I get tired and I can't think straight....

I love heat. Dry heat, humid heat even( occasionally I don't like the humidity). Anything under 72 is too cold.

Wondering if for those of you who have strong issues with heat intolerance, if it could be from not drinking enough water?

Thank goodness for air conditioning. I think life with fibro would be a lot more difficult on those really hot days without it.

Too much humidity gives me flares...same with too much cold,strong AC,too much heat or sauna.

It's very frustrating as I love sauna.

Cannot drink too cold or hot drinks either .

Both excessive heat or cold are classed as environmental stressors - fibro is caused by the stress reactive system being broken - so either can cause more fibro symptoms

Interesting topic.

Andre, would this being broken be related to the adrenal glands--the fight or flight response? I know mine became stuck years ago from too much physical and emotional stress. Too much cortisol getting into my system.
