cysts

Has anyone here ever had benign cysts?I have one on my hip underneath the skin.The regular doctor dismisses it as being from a shot I may have had but don't remember and my rheumatologist won't look at it and it hurts. My rheumatologist also told me she will don't do a bone scan or bone density even though my bones hurt because they are all unneccesary and some people just want to go in search of something that is not there and that is stressful to the doctors and patients,I disagree.She blames everything on the fibro and arthritis because all the blood tests are normal.I am so frustrated and aggrivated.Likewise my gyno is not paying attention either I am massive bleeding,had the ultrasound yesterday and she has not called me back.I think they don't want to do alot cause of my type of insurance.

The lack of support from your doctors is so upsetting. How are people with a bed side manners like that allowed to be doctors? I don't get it some times.

I have a cyst near center of brain that was found on an MRI 5 years ago. Then found out I have nodules on thyroid and have been doing sonogram yearly to check for growth of the nodules. A breast exam found a cyst. So I feel like I probably have them everywhere. None of my doctors feel like it's anything to worry about. The message is always the same, "let's just keep an eye on them."

I've had firm lumps under my scalp for as long as I can remember. For me, they form after random sores/ingrown hairs/heat pimples heal. When I had my head MRI I saw them on the images and asked my neuro about them. He said they're benign cysts and as long as they don't cause any pain they don't need to do anything about them. I've never had one form anywhere else. I'd say if yours really bothers you to make some noise with your doctor until he listens. I can't believe it'd be a difficult thing to remove it.

I have had a number of cysts. I have one now on my wrist that is over a main vein. The rhuem and derm drs said if it bothers me a hand surgeon would have to take it out. I also had one removed many years ago that was on my forearm. I have a cyst in my kidney right now too. All the doctors I have seen told me they were all benign and not to worry unless they bothered me.

It's funny I showed my mom the one on my wrist and she said "slam it real hard with a book" ! Nah, I don't think so!

I've also had a number of cysts including one inside my jaw they removed. I also had ovarian cysts which resulted in two surgeries over the course of 30 years. I also have had very cystic breasts my entire life and had to start getting yearly mammograms at 31 cuz there was so much junk in there, they couldn't figure out what was what. I also got tons of abcesses in my teeth beginning in my teens of all things. I used to run a chronic pain group and out of the several of us there, some with Fibro, some with Rhuematoid Arthritis, come to find out we had all been very cystic.

No offense but I think it might benefit you to at least consider finding new doctors. I know it's a pain. I've been where you are where they blamed everything on Fibromyalgia from the beginning. I am just finding out now I probably have Addison's disease and was in crisis when I first got sick. Now, finally, I've got a doc who has been picking away at my symptoms and we have in just these last 5 years discovered a source for my dizziness and was able to receive rehab for it to help control it, discovered I have a genetic disease involving how my body handles salt, discovered my estrogen was incredibly insufficient and not being absorbed, discovered I have Hashimoto's Thryroiditis, and now Addison's (I am responding very well to treatment). I cannot tell you how many docs I've seen who were more than willing to say It's just Fibro in the last 15 years happy to let me suffer with more questions than answers. My doc says, "Let's not assume it's Fibro."

I had a large cyst on my wrist but it was a ganglion and I bumped it really really hard and it had never come back. I also have a bump on my head my doctor said its a cyst and has ignored it, and I have enough on my plate right now I don't want to do anything about it.

whatever mine is I got an appointment with the dermatologist he says he can drain the small ones just not ones a size of a marble

Had a Cat Scan today and found a tiny cyst on my hip bone, not a problem, have no pain from it....
