I've been having some really tough time.

My son and daughter in law, who moved here from CO about 5 years ago, are moving back.

They've been struggling to keep their heads above water but it's just so expensive here in NY to live.

I have 6 grandchildren and have been lucky enough to have them all close to me, my son only lived 3 minutes away.

He has 2 beautiful daughters, 5 & 6, that have been a very BIG part of our lives...

With everything else going on I feel so down.

My mother in law who I loved and cared for died in Jan.

My mother and youngest brother, who live 20 minutes from me, no longer have anything to do with me due to their religion.

I just feel that I have lost so much lately and it hurts.

Yes I know it's not the end of the world.

There are airplanes and I can go visit or they will be here maybe once a year.

I'm just feeling blue about it all...

I'm going to go soak in a warm tub and try to calm myself alittle.

It's going to be a rough few weeks.

The fly out on the 4th of July...Happy Holiday.

I'm sorry so much is happening in your life right now. No, it isn't the end of the world, BUT it is a big chance in YOUR world. You have a lot of losses going on this yr and that is hard. I'm glad you had a special and loving relationship w/ your MIL. She was very blessed to have your loving care, you were her angel.

I pray that your mother and brother will come around and reunite w/ you and your family. It is hard to be parted from ppl who should be so close to you.

Yrs back when I was growing up, my brother was in the Army. He and his wife & children were sent overseas for 3 yrs at a shot. They always lived w/ us when they were stateside. I would get myself so upset for the wks before they went away. My SIL and I were very close and the children were 'my babies', and I adored my Big Brother, it was terrible. We wrote back & forth, sent pictures, called once in awhile, but it was hard. Nowadays, there is the email, cell phones, & Skype - I believe Robin keeps in touch w/ her DD & family this way. I know it isn't the same as touching them or holding the children on your lap, but it is more immediate than snail mail.

The northeast area is way too expensive, it is a tough time for a lot of young ppl and also some of us 'older ppl', hopefully this move will be very good for your son's family.

Try to spend these next few wks making some marvelous memories w/ you beloved family. These will help you and them manage the changes you all face. But tonight, get in that tub and relax, maybe make a nice cup of tea and breathe. Take care of you tonight.

Sending gentle hugs and prayers your way. I'm so sorry that your son and family are moving away. I know it is hard...my daughter and her family are up north, along with all the rest of our relatives. We have no family in the area.

Alice is right...I do keep in touch with my family using Skype. It is the next best thing to being right there with your loved ones.
My little grandaughter can sing to me, share her artwork, dance and share her day with me. I also send her mail often and she loves getting coloring books and stickers. She's almost 3. Hubby and I will fly to Wisconsin in 2 weeks to visit.

I feel I'm very connected with my family. It's kind of a joke that siblings ask me what's going on with other family members because they all live in the same town.

You will be able to stay close emotionally with your son and family as long as you keep those lines of communication open.

I too hope you will reunite with your mom and brother and I'm sorry for your loss of your mother-in- law.

My condolences for the loss of your mother-in-law.

It always irks me when families split up because of religion. God wants us to be together, living in harmony, so rejecting anyone based on religion is definitely not living up to what God wants for His children. :(

Any chance you and your other relatives could use your computers for video conferencing, so you can feel closer, despite the miles?

I wish there were something I could say to help ease the pain, but I can only say that we're here when you need us. I hope that helps.

I really like Skype for keeping in touch with people. I have relatives in England, New Zealand and Indonesia. They are all Skype users so we can talk for free any time. Skype is very easy to use and takes a couple of minutes to install. If you have a computer with a microphone and a webcam you are all set. If not, you can order a set from Skype that plugs into a USB port on your computer. You can find Skype by using Google.

I hope that you are feeling a little more upbeat by the time that you read this. Take care.

Just wanted you to know that I am so sorry for all that you are going through right now. I have my almost 3 year old grandson living here right now and I would be heart broken if my son and girlfriend said they were moving out of state. I am sorry about your mother-in-law, it is so hard to say goodbye to someone we love.

I hope that you will find a way too get close to your mom and brother again. hypervee is right families should not be split up because of religion. God loves us all.

I would be crying, too, MeGoSun.  It's so hard when you are so used to them being so close to you.  Two of my children live up north and I miss them terribly.  I wish I could use Skype but I can't hear.  But we do send a lot of emails and I have a closed captioned phone that helps me stay in contact with them.  But I know many that love Skype.  It's like they are in the room with you. 

 

I think once the shock of their leaving settles, you will be better.  Right now the tears are probably quite healing.  It's better than trying to hold your emotions inside.  That would cause a whole lot more pain...physically as well as mentally. 

 

You are never alone.  We are always here to lend a helping hand or just listen.  You will find things that will fill this void somewhat and you will be happy again.  I know right now you probably don't know how but God will guide you.

 

It will be a difficult Fourth for you.  I'll be praying for you to have some peace about this.  Remember, you do want your son to be able to take care of his family.  That's the only reason they are leaving but it's a very important reason nevertheless.  This might help put things a little more in perspective.  Meanwhile, I hope you do get some peace about this.

MeGoSun, I am so sorry that you will be parted from your grandbabies. I live with my daughter and her 3 small boys and I know that it would be almost impossible for me to give them up. But, I never tell her that because I would always want her to do the best she can for her and her boys even it that means a relocation.

Sherrine, you can still use skype. instead of talking you can type your messages and receive them typewritten. Just like email but with their loving faces on your screen.

I'm not such a crying wreck any more.

Yes I still have my moments but am trying to work through them.

Yes Skype is something that we will be using...

But there's nothing like holding them and reading to them and etc.............

My daughter and her two boys are already planning a trip to see them.

As for my mother and brother it would be wonderful to have them acknowledged by them but I don't see it happening, at least not any time soon.

When I'm down I always come here and read posting and they always make me feel better.
