Fireworks and Fibro...............

A friend just called me and I had to go outside to use my cell phone.  The neighbors in the area are shooting off fireworks.  The sounds make me jump, hurts my ears..more then I can handle.  Anyone else?

People often ask me how I can be so jumpy after raising 5 kids.  They just do not understand the jumpiness is part of fibro, totally separate from raising kids.

The people here go on and on, and for days.  Tonight should be the worst of it.  I feel like the natives have surrounded me. I have a basement apartment, a fan is running, plus the AC, and the tv is on---I am still jumping at every boom!

I only hated the ones that were the big bang with no pretty colors.  The little pops don't bother me, it's the big bangs that get me.  When my kids were young, they didn't like fireworks, were too loud for them, they cried.  I hate firecrackers.

I too am getting weary from the fireworks. They've been going off for several days now and tonight is awful out there. We live in a rural, wooded area...I always have and always will. Often people who move out here from city life aren't aware of the noise problems. The neighbor on our south side not only has been blasting fireworks but has been shooting a high powered rifle for target practice most every weekend since the weather warmed up. One year it was dirt bike style motorcycles that went round and round for hours/days on end. The noise level was so loud we couldn't hear the TV with the windows shut....and this guy is a ways away through the woods. Can't see his house from here but his adult kids come visiting him, drinking and carrying on disrupting everyone within miles, so the police told us. Hey, they are away from home and there are lots of trees so who could it bother anyway?...<shaking head>

So yes, I'm jumpy tonight and hope they stop soon. Rural noise curfew is in about 20 minutes so maybe it will settle down soon, or they might run out...lol The celebration is fine but everything they are shooting around here is illegal and huge. The police are way too busy to enforce that side of it unless something serious happens, like injury or fire.

Don't ysa just hate it when they invade and disrupt our peace and quiet?

Most areas have laws against dicharging a firearm, so if that continued, I'd consider that, plus the safwety issue. We have alot of teenage boys, altho it is semi-rural, and I think they all must have amillion firecrackers each. These also drive our dogs nuts!!! They need doggy downers-lol.

We live on the water and on holidays we also get those testosterone driven jet skis too. AAARRRGGGHHH!

We did look up the local law on discharging firearms in our area. Not allowed within 500 of another building. That makes them illegal on any part of their property. We called the police two weeks ago the noise issues have a low priority, as they should, and I have no idea if they ever went out there to talk to them. The way we got them shut down on the motor bikes was because they are within a watershed and they have a Class C salmon stream that borders their property as well as ours. So the folks that regulate that stream shut them down for pollution reasons...lol Remember, they didn't get Al Capone for murder, they got him for tax evasion. There's always another route. ;-)
