It's been a long week for me but tomorrow is friday and I am gonna make it!! Really had to overdo this week with work, Tuesday was

brutal with the heat my patch fell off (first time that ever happened to me) my hands have been awful numb and my thumb hurts like I

can't explain but running hot water on it helped alot. My feel swelled yesterday and today, that's new for me too Ugghh this is turning into

a crab fest....sorry Anyone have any tips to get some sleep? With the hours i put in this week the last thing i should be dealing with is

only sleeping 2 or 3 hours at a time. It's like taking naps:) Hoping to get a break from this heat and am off saturday so i can get my

self together again.. Thanks for listening and again i really appreciate everyone's comments and reading your posts! Have a good

I guess this year I don't mind living in alaska. The average temp is 65 degrees. We only had 6 days were we reached 70. It has been beautiful with the long daylights. I have to have special darkening curtains for the windows because you wake up all hrs. of the night thinking your late for something. I listen to calming music all night and have a fan to keep noise down. I always wake up several times myself, but I don't work so I just sleep in. Hope you get a good night sleep.

Hi huskergal!

I'm sorry you're suffering so much, especially with the heat you are having. I live in NW Washington state and we're having a very cool summer, so far. Ever consider moving? Not practical but it's an idea to kick around.

I sleep no more than 4-5 hours at a time. If I go more the pain is beyond belief. Most often I switch from the bed to my recliner somewhere during the night and I do much better. What bothered me at first was the fact that I certainly didn't get married to sleep alone. But hubby does understand that I need sleep and I get it when and where I can. Still, it's not like getting a good 6-8 hours and feeling rested. I've accepted that it won't happen and enjoy the sleep I do get. Something to think about that you might adapt to your lifestyle.

As far as other issues with handling the heat, numbness and swelling ~ you really should ask your doctor about those, especially the last two. Those can be very serious and can be dealt with. Maybe if those problems were addressed your sleep would improve?..?? Just a thought...

I hope you find some rest and peace this weekend...

You're just enjoying Florida's summer weather!  Yep!  That's how it is here.  How about running through the sprinkler!  It would be fun and that would cool you off.  In the summer, after my hot shower, I turn the hot water off and take a cold shower.  It's very good for your skin and feels great!

 

Try staying away from salty foods right now.  You hopefully are drinking a lot of water these days and the sodium will retain that.  It's usually in my feet, too.  So check your labels and try not to have things with a lot of sodium in it...like chips, sandwich meats, etc.  That could help you.

 

I keep myself on a sleep schedule.  I go to be at the same time and get up at the same time.  That helps me a lot too.

 

Hope you are feeling better and that your heat leaves you soon.

I am finding that if I lay in bed too long I ache too. I also go to the recliner during the night. I have to sleep on my right side or I snore (lol), but my right hip really starts to ache if I lay there too long. So sometimes I am up at 4 or 5 in the morning because of this. This morning I got up at 6:00. That can make for a long day.

Huskergal, I hope that you feel better soon.

Ak Angel, it is interesting that you have daylight all day and night. When does it get dark? During winter? That must be strange. I imagine that you are use to it though. Is it true that they prescribe tanning beds for SAD (seasonl defective disorder) there?

Just curious.

No break in the heat here but they say it's gonna storm sunday and bring temps down to the 90's... lol never thought i would be glad to see lower temps. I have always been a summer girl and love to be out on the lake soaking up the sun but with the meds and patch i have to be careful about the heat and sun exposure. I was always tan and really missed that so i started spray tanning at the salon and i love it, it's a great attitude adjustment:)

Had the grandkids over last night, just what i needed!! Actually slept 4 hours straight!! Going shoe shopping today, anyone have any suggestions on brands? I really need something comfortable but need sone style also:) I was happy with my reboks but find they aren't giving my feet much support and i catch myself walking on the insteps.

AK angel: my brother also lives in alaska, Chuciak (sp) and he and his family love it there. We hope to visit next year. He is a hunting fishing nut so there is no better place for him! The pictures he sends are so beautiful, you are lucky to live there!


Anyone have hints to get patch glue off? Scrubbing works but i know there has to be a better way!

Huskergal, try some baby oil where the patch was, it may loosen the sticky stuff up.

This morning when listening to the weather, they said for one of the first times ever, NY and surrounding areas were actually hotter than Florida.  Imagine that!  Was in the 100's here yesterday, will be today too.  Newark NJ broke a record with 108.

When I shoe shop, I go for comfort and gave up on style.  If my feet hurt, then I'm down for the count.  I recently bought a pair of Earth Spirit sandals in the men's section at Walmart.  They have gel insoles and are very comfortable.  They aren't beautiful, but they aren't ugly either.  Comfort comes first for my feet. smilewinkgrin
