Well the end of May I had my Galbladder out. And after about a week post surgery I realized my fibro pain was so much better. I recovered very quickly from my surgery but now have another issue. I have been treated for 5 years for Hypothyroidism. Now, I have many of the symptoms (and lab tests) that show I now have Hyperthyroidism. Geesh! I feel awful! I am suppose to go for an Iodine Scan at the hospital this week. Not sure what's gonna happen yet. Anybody heard of going from Hypo to Hyper? It's pretty bad. Now I don't know if my Fibro is bad again or it's from my thyroid. And has anybody had relief from Fibro pain post surgery? I am wondering if it's because when they put you to sleep your body totally relaxes. Don't know. Hope all is well Fibro friends!

Hi, I felt better after I got my appendix, and then gallbladder, out. I think part of the back pain I was experiencing each time was from internal issues with these organs - I just didn't realize it, until they were gone. I still have back pain, but nothing like it used to be.

When they found out my thyroid was underactive, they put me on a kind of high dose of synthroid, and had to keep lowering it.

How do you feel awful? And what's an Iodine Scan?

My mom went from hyper to hypo...then to  Hashimoto's and finally had her thyroid killed off.  Spent the rest of her life on Synthroid.  ( I think that's what she took).  So...it can happen!

Yes, I have heard a lot of people go from Hyper to Hypo. But not the other way around. Not sure what it means :) I hope you mom is doing well.

The thyroid tests can fluctuate, too, Grandma.  I was tested as having hyperthyroidism.  My doctor said to wait two weeks and be retested.  I did that and I was normal.  Go figure!  He checks my thyroid every six months. 

 

Try not to get really upset.  Your doctor will figure this out and there are things to help this, too.  If you let anxiety get ahold of you, you will feel really lousy!

Talking about thyroid issues, it was discovered that I have nodules on both side of mine had to have a painful biopsy but found out they were benign. It is weird! Ever since the fibro diagnosis I have had so much weird stuff! Good luck to you!
