Myjoy - I think a lot of people don't understand what we go through, and how could they? On the surface we look "normal" but pain, fatigue, and depression is so hard to see.
Still, your friend's comment was unnecessary and hurtful. Sometimes people get wrapped up in their own problems and say selfish things without considering what the other person might be going through. I would try not to let it get to you. You know the hardships you go through, and you do not need to feel like you are being judged by others.
My friends and boyfriend make comments to me all the time, like: "don't you feel useless because you aren't working?" or, "why aren't you taking a full course load if you don't have a part-time job?" Every time I hear these things my heart sinks, not only because the people I care about most don't understand the pain that I'm going through, but also because I am reminded of the limitations that are being placed on my life. I try to go easy on myself and just do the best that I know I can, but I know that for me at least, it can be so hurtful to go through all these things I cannot control, while also being judged by people who don't understand. The best you can do for yourself is be positive, I know I can only try to be.
Hang in there!
