Does anyone know what triggered their Fibro?

Stressful jobs, starting my own company from scratch, hysterectomy, ulcerative colitis (UC). High dosages of Prednisone to treat UC while working 60-70 hour weeks = fibromyalgia. Had to sell my business because I couldn't work the hours and was burnt out. Went back to work part-time at another high stress position, UC became so bad I had to have my colon removed to "cure" it. 3 surgeries in 7 months and fibromyalgia just keeps getting worse. Anxiety, depression and PTSD. Now receiving LTDisability insurance benefits. I'd rather be working than on disability.

I think that I was genetically predisposed - my mother has CFS, my maternal grandmother has MS and FM and my maternal aunt has FM.

I had an MVA/pedestrian accident (I was the pedestrian) in 2004 while pregnant with my eldest daughter. It started me on the path of chronic pain (thanks to soft tissue injuries) and a huge amount of workplace related stress (I loved my job but was removed from my position bec I wasn't able to sit for long meetings, had many regular medical appointments and they worried that I wasn't 'fit' enough for the job).

I thought that I was in a good space emotionally when, on the Monday morning of my intro to fibro week started with a huge back pain flare, then upper back started the next day and by the Thursday, I was hit with a ton of fatigue and haven't been able to return to work since - knocked me right off my feet and that was 2 yrs ago.

Mold Mycotoxins that I had to endure in the workplace brought an end to my normal everyday existence, and every aspect of life has been a challenge since!
I now share quarters with Fibro, Chronic Fatigue, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Environmental and Food allergies, IBS, along with asthma and allergic rhinitis, not my first choice for company I can assure you

My fibromyalgia was caused from Lyme Disease. I was treated two times when I was younger and about 2 years after treatment they diagnosed me. My body has never been the same since I first had Lyme. I think it's amazing how many things can cause you to get fibro. It's tough living with this everyday but some how I have managed all these years. I guess I think sometimes...hey my life could be worse.

I had a surgery on June 1st that was to be completely routine and it was anything but routine. It has been a tragedy of errors that has left my life and health in ruins but I am trying to move on from there. In the mean time due to almost dying from severe malnutrition, see I needed my gallbladder removed but when they got in there it was 4x normal size all of my intestines were knotted around a huge hernia and had to be pulled out and realigned properly and they found stones in my appendix so when I woke up "Color me surprised!" I had been very ill 3 weeks prior with nausea and diahrrea and had began to swell (also I am post gastric bypass 9 years) I worked for my prim care dr and she said that was nutritional I told the anesthes on surg morning and he ordered STAT blood work but next thing I new I woke up "IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE" I no longer recognize my life. I kept swelling even after the surg and I mean HUGE but they sent me home anyway after 6 days...2 days later (a lot of event in between) I ended up in ER with cong heart failure and severe malnutrition like what you see in like ethiopia I was approx 3 days from dying. I have never been able to fully recover from this. My whole family is an autoimmune nightmare we could be the Poster Family so I have always had underlying symptoms of different AI conditions but blood work didn't support any of them. Finally 8 weeks into recovery and not getting better my mouth feels like a dryness that is hardly indescribable I hurt all over I have trouble eating but that is getting better but I am not gaining weight I am still down about 20lbs from my normal weight. I am so in a fog that I am scared to go out sometimes because I am truly not with it most of the time, can't find words no concentration that type of thing. My ANA was 1:320 but none of the other tests conf Lupus they also think I have AI hepa*** but some blood work doesn't support that, however I guess there is something called trigger points in Fibromyalgia and I have them all. I was so mad though about the fibromyalgia because I worked in health ins for 23 years and we termed it the "garbage can" disease.....a place to stick someone that needs a name of how they feel to shut them up basically. But I don't recognize myself or my life anymore. I used to walk 3 miles a day no matter what, I don't want to do anything. What happened to me in the SX was completely unnecessary but that is a long story and I don't even believe in suing people but I struggle with not calling an attorney everyday because this is a bright blinking red light screaming neglect and incompetence. I am in financial ruins and my family has been through so much with this. I went back to work after 6 months because of sheer financial need I cry all the way home sometimes from pain and fatigue. I am finally grabbing ahold of the fibromyalgia diag and trying to accept it. I can't take any of the meds they use to treat it they all burn my stomach and cause really bad things to happen. I feel guilty for being in pain or feeling down and what my family went through at my expense. So I guess this disease or disorder is real. I read about it and I have nearly everything they talk about with all the autoimmune stuff on top of it. Plus there is something weird going on because I am not absorbing much out of the food I eat or meds I take like I in a week for some reason lost 6 lbs again and am down to 124 again when I worked so hard to gain that 3 lbs. This is about 7 months now it has to get better or I need to see some hope.
I have been reading many of your messages on here and I feel comfort, I can chat with people that when they say "I know how you fee" they truly do know how I feel.

with what you went through,, for you not to SUE is a bigger crime then what they did to you,, when they get up,, they will get on with there lives,, you will not,, I tried to sue over a botched Chiari surgery that had me get bacterial menigitis,, only a day after I complained that I was getting severe headaces and I said my incision looked rotted,,,, he said it was fine,, next day,, 106 temp, spinal fluid coming out of my neck, about 10 hours from corking off, so I suggest you sue,, I waited to long, and now am paying the price,, I know how they stick up for each other,, i have run into tehre little wall of lies,, they would rather you just go somewhere and die, they canbury there mistakes,, do it for your family,, it wont cost you a dime, not one dime if you take it to court,, call a lawyer,, dont let them off the hook,, its you and your family you need to think about,,

@SleeplessNJ- who is a Lyme literate MD? My moms swears that though i was diagnosed 10yrs ago with Fibro that I need to be checked for Lyme disease. She has her reasons and I normally blow it off but I actually don't think i've ever been tested-can't recall. I did just start seeing a new Rheumy though and on the 19th, I'll ask him to do so.
