I am so tired and in so much pain, all me and my hubby want is half an hours rest in the afternoon, so we get ready to have a nap and the neighbours are so flipping noisy :evil:

We live in a ground floor flat with people above us and people to the sides, both sides have kids (i know you can't keep kids quiet) but when it's from 7 in the morning until 1 at night, it starts to grate on your nerves.
The couple upstairs are in their 50's, very grumpy and we can't reason with them. We live in a converted house style flat, so we constantly have to listen to squeeky floorboards, them unplugging things and plugging them back in, well lets just say we hear everything.

I am constantly stressed, can't relax and even sleeping is getting very difficult (even worse than before).

We are living in a council flat, we have been trying to move since feb with no joy cry
We are getting to the end of our tether now, we really don't know what to do anymore.

Sorry for this, I just needed to vent.

Why don't you pull out the contract you signed and see if it says anthing about noise after certain hours.  These people could be breaking the rules of the lease and the landlord could step in and straighten it out...or they might lose their flat.  Your neighbors know you can't do anything to them but they also know the landlord can.

 

If that doesn't solve the problem, I'd get music you love and put it on very loud to block out their noise.  Then guess who will be knocking on YOUR door!  devil    Then  you just might be able to reason with them.

I agree with Sherrine about checking the lease. It must be very irrtating and I know how you feel. we used to live in that type of apartment and we had very disrespectful neighbors. I hope that you both get some well deserved rest soon. Best of luck!

Have you tried some kind of white noise while you try to nap? I know it doesn't always work, but it may put the neighbor's noise in the background while you rest. Good luck!

I am so sorry you are experiencing rude and disrespectful neighbors. We lived with noisey neighbors above us with kids and it sounded like they were bouncing a bowling ball every few minutes. Awful noise at midnight... We finally banged on the walls very loudly and that did the trick for this group, but it doesn't always work, I know.. Besides, I don't recommend that either.

Thankyou for the replies, will deffo have a look into the tenancy agreement.

The neighbours are quiet at the mo, i just hope it stays that way so we can have a bit of relaxation today...need it!!!

That's rough - so sorry. Two suggestions:

-a white noise generator
-ear plugs

Do they realize you have some medical issues? Maybe take them a box of cookies and chat with them and ask them if they could please be super quiet between "x" o'clock and "x" o'clock, that you really need a nap to get through your day/medical issues? They might not realize how the sound carries. After such a kind an gentle approach, if they still continue to have wild elephant parties, well then they are just jerks!!!

I know exactly how you feel, the apartment downstairs from me are constanly slamming their doors and come in late at night after the bar lets out and play their stereo loud and it is constantly waking me up!! So I bought some earplugs. lol

Ask your landlord if you can move to another apartment
