Yes, I was only on Lyrica for a short time as it caused very uncomfortable swelling in my hands.
I think that I've had a few seizures while sleeping. Very scary. I've only had one while awake, and that was a million years ago, before fibro and before meds.
When I look online, Ultram (which I am on) seems to be in the same family as other narcotics as it is an opiod drug. My understanding is that it carries less of a risk of abuse, however, it is not risk free, as it still an opiod. My GP was rather risk adverse and would do a monthly lock out on both Butrans and Ultram (meaning that I could only fill one month at a time). After taking both for one month, I said to him, you obviously haven't taken either of these meds, otherwise you would know that they simply AREN'T that good.
I think that the more important thing to know is to tramadol/ultram etc can react badly with many antidepressants.
Back to the Lyrica, I did try Gabapentin for a month or so but felt like I had had a stroke. It was awful. Definitely not for me while caring for young children. Or just trying to get thru life!
