I'm taking cymbalta 60mg twice a day. My Dr. recently prescribed Nucynta ER 50mg and Savella. I haven't started the Savella though. Anyone else on all the meds? I'm not sure about taking Savella, I've read some questionable things. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi, JM, and welcome!  I don't take these medications but my cousin does take Savella.  She takes a VERY low dose....25 mg.  She originally was given a large dose and got nearly all the side effects to she stopped taking it.  After a while, she tried again...starting at just 10 mg.  She didn't get the side effects so they upped it a little and she said it's really helping her and she doesn't have the side effects.  I hope this helps some.

Hi, I'm wondering why your doctor would prescribe Cymbalta and Savella together...they are both SNRI's.

I started out taking Cymbalta but could not tolerate the side effects. My rheumy put me on Savella and I never experianced any of the side effects.
He did give give me 2 2-week triatiation sample packs, so that my body had a month to slowly adjust to the medication. I've been on it now for a couple of years. It took a few months before I really noticed a differance. I take 50 mg 2x daily.

I'd have the doc explain his reasoning for med combo choices.

I have never heard of nucynta. I will have to look that one up.

Robin is correct.  You have to be careful taking some of these medications together.  You can develop Serotonin Syndrome.  I "missed" that you were taking Cymbalta too and just focused on Savella in my previous post to you.  Here is a link from Fibro 101 about Serotonin Syndrome.

Had an experience with serotonin syndrome days ago. Incredibly scary. I was on Ultram and Cymbalta and had serious reactions and had to stop Cymbalta (still weaning off). Have not tried Savella, though. I strongly advise looking into SS because it can be life threatening.

Thanks for all the responses. Serotonin syndrome was my concern as well. The Nucynta ER is working great for me so far. It's a fairly new med so I do have concerns about not knowing long term effects.
