Before making an appointment with anyone, you need to have confidence that they can help you. You don't have confidence in your new primary and I sure wouldn't be thrilled if I were having chest pains and shortness of breath and being "blown off" like that. Yes, it very well could be anxiety but then it could be something else. You are paying him to figure this stuff out...not to just ignore you because he's disinterested. So, all of the above would make me find a doctor that I DO trust...one with good credentials, too.
You are not being fair about your psychiatrist because you haven't even seen them yet! They could be absolutely fabulous and that's exactly how you need to feel going into the first appointment. If you go in with a negative attitude, figuring you won't like them either, then you won't. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. So, make sure you have confidence in them. If not, cancel the appointment and find a doctor that you think WILL help you. You will be wasting both of your times if you go to the appointment with negative feelings, I think.
It's very difficult to change doctors. But, you aren't starting from scratch. You get the records or have them sent to the new doctor. That will fill them in some. Then go, with a set of questions and comments about your health, and you fill them in the rest of the way. Within a couple of appointments, you will be right on track again.
Let us know what you decide to do. I do hope you find doctors that you like and trust. That's so very important.
