Today, I am jumping at every sound. I am always sensitive to sound,but this is ridiculous. I was just at Kmart, and their door sensors kept going off. I was jumping out of my skin.

Think I'll gobo rands ip in some earplugs.

I mean, go put in some earplugs. iPad auto-fill bites.

Sorry to hear your frustrations. I normally have sensitivities to sound as well, but some days it seems to be off the chart and then all sorts of sensory overload triggers and it's not a pretty picture. Another of our lovely fibro traits... ugh!

I am headed to the hospital to work in a few minutes and I have a feeling it could be "one of those days". I've had a rotten, stressed-out morning and it has flared some major pain in my back muscles. I am so not looking forward to work today. Right now it hurts every time I breathe and my ribcage expands. I guess I'm just going to have to get through it one hour at a time.

As for you... I hope those earplugs work!! :-)

I understand. Sensitive-everything syndrome.

Did the earplugs work? I can't stand the feel of them, unfortunately.

I understand I am so overly sensitive to sound. My hubby has a loud voice and he talks alot I usually can tune out most but not tonight. Please let me know if the earplugs work as much as I can't stand the feel of them I would rather those than snap at hubby again.

I hate noise! I work in a busy restaurant, but I have learned to tune out the noise. the downside is I have to read lips b/c I'm practically deaf at work.
Then when the rush is over, the cooks make fun of me b/c I give them heck for having the radio blaring heavy metal, good thing they think I'm cute and tolerate me b/c I'm old ;)

At home it's a different story. I call the kids for dinner and they are all there talking at once. I can't block them out, I think b/c I care about them. I'll get upset and dh gets upset with me... after all, they are just talking. How do you explain the distress this causes? How it's actually painful to hear noise? I wish I had the words for it.

Dh also plays guitar. He knows now when I'm flaring to ask if it's bothering me.

Did the earplugs work? i joke about that, but it may be a good idea at home. I wish there was a cure for this symptom :(

MY husband just rolls his eyes at me like I am a wuss when I mention the light or noise are bothering me. "what doesn't hurt" he asks in that sarcastic want-to-slap-that-look-right-offa-his-face-voice-lol.
He's deaf so tv is always blaring or music etc.

I just go to MY room and shut it all out-turn onmy white noise machine

what I love is at my house my kids will start raring and get really noisy then my husband turns the tv all the way up so he can hear the tv over the kids. I get chased outsid no matter how cold it is cause I know nobody will follow me out there especially if it's cold out there. Please let us all know how the ear plugs work cause I have also threatened that.

There are some days that noise just makes me very jumpy as well. And not only that but on days where I am sensitive, noises just make my ear drums ache, like their throbbing or something. Most times it's my daughter's voice - it's not like I can tune her out! And I have to tell her constantly to lower her voice that it's hurting my ears.

I've tried ear plugs but they annoy me so when my ears start to throb, I just put a finger in my ear(s) until the noise stops.

Very odd. Today, noise doesn't seem to be a problem. Well, more than it usually is. Now, my problem is smell. Every smell is hitting me super hard so far. The cleaning lady in my building was doing the entryway, and my head was swimming.

I use ear plugs at the gym and at home when super-sensitive. I live alone, so it's not a big deal. Motorcycles are especially hard on me.

Noise bothers me too and being around a lot of people talking drives me crazy. I actually became nauseated because of it a few weeks ago and I had the worst pain in my head. I'm not looking forward to Thanksgiving.

I am noise sensitive, but not always. One night, my husband's snoring was the last straw, so I used ear plugs and they worked. They are a little annoying, but I feel badly for always asking my husband to give in to sound levels because I'm in one of those modes!
