patch falling off

My patch keeps falling off! It is very hot and the humidity is awful here. Anyone have any hints to keep patch on? I tried to tape edges but medicine doesn't release and i am hurting....

As a retired nurse we would cover them with tegaderm. It a clear cover that goes over your iv site. It holds real well and has a fair water protection. You can buy them at pharmacy or I have seen them at grocery stores in the bandaid area. If you have sensitive skin the tegaderm comes off easier with alcohol pad. Maybe some others have an idea.

I called the manufacturer and found out they will send me covers for patch at no charge...so will be waiting for them in the mail and will let you know how they work.....

Wow, I'm pretty lucky, I have never experienced that. Unless it's at the last day and I'm in the shower, it may pucker up on me then.

I'm glad to here the company will send you covers at not cost to you! Good deal!!

I have an ostomy and use a a skin prep that I get at the medical supply place.  It's inexpensive.  I also have a pool and am in it for about 2 hours a day and have never had the appliance lose it's grip.

 

Also, I'm not sure where you wear a patch but if it is on your arm or leg, how about wrapping an Ace bandage around you to hold it on.

I always use Tegaderm, Walgreens has it, It's made by nexcare. Also there are three major fentanyl patch makers, Sandos ( which I personally hate and have bad absorption with), Watson, and Mylan (this is my favorite). It can really make a HUGE difference, you need to find which one works best for you. Tegaderm is nice and clear and you can shower etc. With it on. It's very hot where I live right now too so trust me when I say Tegaderm works great even with humidity and high temps.

if you ar using the rd and white box watson patchs then just ask your pharmists and thy havee those hold on things at thee drug store for the watsons. if you ar using mylins blu and white box patch looks like a bandaid then take the medical tape that looks clear and tape all four sids down it should be good until nxt time 3 days later. make sur your skin is dry wheen you put patch on and tape on and that watson cover up thing you gt at pharmaecy. that the answers

Update on patch covers: received them by u.p.s. delivery at no charge to me :) they are awesome I have had no problems keeping

patches on now!! A return envelope and order form come with patches, I fill it out, send it in and in about a week I get a new supply.

Have a low pain day and super Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Huskergal....so glad to hear, I also called and hopefully won't be long until I have mine. Take care....hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving...I live in Canada so we had our Thankgiving was in October...enjoy your turkey.

I kind of wish they had Cymbalta or Lyrica in a quick release patch, especially for my tail bone pain:( When that thing gets flared up, I can barely walk:s It oober sucks, and before anyone asks, I have tried Advil for the anti-inflammatories, but even with the high strength stuff *Tremadol and Torodol*, nothing would help. Daily living has improved, but I've got nothing for flares except Marcaine Injections. Those don't last nearly as long as I'd like but hey, one day is better than no day;)

Anywho, Happy Gobbles day to our American neighbours to the south:D

Sorry, yes we are generally talking about our Fentanyl patches which provides constant medication thru a patch that you put on your body, depending on you and your doctor you wear it and replace it every 2 to 3 days.
