I now have a new symptom to add to my list.  I have been suffering from vertigo for several weeks.  I had two bad colds back to back and my doctor saw some swelling inside my ear during the exam so he thinks it could be from that.  However I forgot to mention to him I bumped my head really hard and almost knocked myself out a couple of weeks ago too so maybe that caused it.  Anyway I feel dizzy and off balance and I don't like this feeling.  The doctor just called in a prescription for vertigo and I will pick it up tomorrow.  Anyone else suffer from this and could you share what helped you and how long you had it?  Thanks.

Sawa, I do not have vertigo.  That would drive me bonkers, too!  But, you really need to tell your doctor about that bad bump on your head.  From your description, it was quite severe and whenever you hit your head that hard, you need to be checked out to see if you have a concussion.  You want to be safe...not sorry.  So please contact your doctor and tell them what you have told us.  I imagine he would want you checked out.

 

 

I do hope this all goes away for you.  It easily could be the swelling in the ears.  I know when fluid backs up in my ears I get very lightheaded.

Yes, and mine originally started from a large knock to the head. If you can see an ENT doctor, they can do the Eply Maneuver which is done in office and sometimes fixes the vertigo. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries. It fixed mine, followed by vestibular physical therapy. I had this years ago (pre-diagnosis) where it was so bad that I couldn't stand upright without holding the walls. Have had it a few times since then but nothing that bad and Meclizine has helped with that. It's now OTC but used to be Rx only. Vertigo is awful and I hope you get relief soon.

I encourage you to tell your dr about the bump. Back in March, I hit my head on the wall because I didnt duck down to go into the laundry room. I didnt really think nothing of it and went about my business, wasnt knocked out or anything

Then I started getting headaches, dizzyness, couldnt walk a straight line, so flashing lights before my eyes. I sat like this for a week before I finally went to the ER. Stupid of me. I had a CT scan done, and I had had a concussion. Since then I have headaches a lot. Before the incident I only did around my menstrual cycle.

So, please do go. It is better to be safe than sorry:)

yes, please let your doctor know about your bump on the head, just to be safe.

I used to suffer from Meniere's desease, but it has been mostly in remission for years now. I used to take water pills for it.
Now sometimes I get a whistling in my ear, a pop and the worls turns on its side, rotates a few times then goes baxck to an even keel. I think it's still the Meniere's, but it doesn't last long enought to be an issue anymore.

I hope this subsides for you soon.

I feel like I shouldn't complaine about my stomach upset. I had that one time. Not fun. I just had to take prescription and it work quickly. I pray that you feel better.

BPPV (benign postural vertigo) is common in us sufferers. I have been taught the Eply Maneuver and get my son to apply it when necessary. (look it up on the net); it is so simple and effective. Get someone to assist you as you cannot do it by yourself.

I used to suffer from occassional vertigo when I woke up in the morning. One time I paged the doctor while it was happening and he taught me a trick. He told me to lie on my left side and close my eyes. I did it and the vertigo went away within minutes. This trick has worked for me ever single time I get a spell and I don't have to take any medication for it. Try it and see if it helps.

I have had chronic pain now for five years. In the last year I have been diagnosed with fybro. Since then I do experience vertigo which was not a problem before. The only change in meds is the addition of Lyrica and am not sure if this could be a side effect of it or a condition of fybro.
