Stopped in to say hi

Hey guys, been reading heaps of your posts and they are all great! Some very good tips hidden in there.

I won't bore you with details of me, so a quick summary I'm 25 had CFS and fibro mix since I was 13. Been working full time for the last three years yay. But the last six months the fibro has really hit me, so looking for new ways to cope with the pain.

I'm stuck at the moment with docs not believing in the pain and me having to decide if it is really just in my head. With the unpredictability of fibro pain sometimes I wonder if I'm imaging it all, but surely that much pain can't just be imagined.

First, gotta say I dig your screen name.

Having a doc that believes in this stuff is key, as you know. Your body can push through for a while, but then there are repercussions physically. When you hit the wall, you are forced to figure out how to fix the problem, and a good doctor can really help.

For pain, I take tramadol in the day, and amphityptiline at night. Also, a script sleeping med as well as anti-anxiety Meds. OTC, I also take a barrage of supplements, including magnesium, fish oil, and vitamin D.

I want to find a pain management doc this year, as well as deal with some current stress and emotional icebergs.

There are few answers, but they are there. Sometimes, we just have to dig for them.

Welcome here! Sounds like you are excited to find this forum. You will be happy because there is so much to learn and gain here. I haven't been in any real bad flares in a long time. I think because I dont work anymore. I try to keep my life very simple now. The more natural remedies I do the better I seem to get. IF I coluld live in a giant heating pad I think i wouldn't complain anymore. lol. I hate that your so young to be in so much pain. Hopefull you can learn some ways to keep your fibro symptoms under controlled.

Us Fibromites live on a slippery-slope where one day we're fine and the next day is total H-E-double-hockey-sticks. For the bad days, you've got to rest as much as possible without staying in bed (I'm one to talk; winters make me bed-ridden and it's hard coming from an active background). I've only started listening to my body since November 2011 (and I've had Fibro since August 2006) because of a C. Difficile attack where I ended up on a double round of potent anti-biotics.

Having Fibro's made me look at the smallest chore and ask 'how can I do this without hurting/over-exerting myself?'. You end up making a lot of changes to better your existence; some small, some big, but you do manage. However, the pain is another story in your case as it's going up and down so suddenly whereas it didn't before. You may want to talk to your doctor about changing your prescriptions if you feel they're not doing anything. They'll probably ask you to first tapper off your current meds. Also, beginners Yoga is a great maintenance program, as is anything in water *melts* like swimming or Aqua-fit. Once I'm better, I'd like to get back into Hot-Yoga and warm-water Aqua-fit:)

As for docs not listening, I hear it's a trend, but some docs are coming out of it and finally recognizing what we have. Keep looking because we all deserve someone who gives a dang about our health, am I right? You know it;)

P.S. Please DO NOT let ANYONE tell you what you know your body is doing TO YOU. One of my docs tried to tell me that my symptoms were "psychosomatic", so I left that office pretty quickly. Fibro is not all in your head, so get it in your head:P:D lol. You deserve to hear that much!
