I apologize if this has been asked before. Has anyone else experienced this? It feels and kind of looks as if I have sunburn on my face. My bf and sister said it felt like I had a fever but when I checked my temp it said otherwise.
This has happened before but now it has done it a few days in a row. Its more annoying than anything just wondered if it was a part of fibro. I know all things arent:) just wondered.

Could be rosacea. A flushing of the cheeks and face not accompanied by fever. Easily irritated skin, sometimes accompanied by broken blood vessels. I use a prescription face gel, and have for years.

Sounds like possible Rosacea to me too. I've tried prescription cream/lotion, but I've found that OTC stuff works best for me. There are several different companies that make skin calming product lines: Clinique, Eucerin, and Aveeno are some I'm familiar with. Right now I'm using Neutrogena and Aveeno, and my skin is pretty calm. It's also usually worse for me in the winter, so I try to keep my face moisturized, especially at night.

Another thought - have you been checked for lupus? I think (?) it can cause a facial rash.

I get this as well. It comes on at night. I do not know what it is as well. Good luck to you.

Tracey,  Hi, I get this, it looks like a red flush over my nose & on my cheeks.  I used to think it was possibly a Lupus butterfly rash but I have been tested for Lupus (negative).  My daughter has lupus & comparing mine with hers they are different.  Mine are flushed & look somewhat swollen, feels warm to the touch.  I have noticed I get mine normally when my CFS is flaring & not so much with the Fibro but it does seem like I have seen this somewhere as a symptom of Fibro, I may be wrong there.  I don't have a temp with it either.  I hope you find what it is.  Hugs, Denise

I get this too. A little on my nose and on cheeks. Sometimes my skin feels really irritated, hot and it kinda stings. It seems like it never goes away for me. I have been tested for lupus but negative.

mine stings too and kind of feels like my eyes burn when I blink. weird. guess its just another unsolved mystery to add to my list:)

Same thing happens to me. My cheeks and forehead get so hot that my hand feels like a cold rag, but when I take my temperature, everything is normal.

After trying to explain this "rash" to my rheumatologist for over 13 years (it never would show up when I saw him), I finally had it so bad last year that my husband took pictures of it and we took the computer with us the next time I saw him. Boy, did he perk up! Sent me to a dermatologist, and the dermatologist did a skin biopsy and it was rosacea. Returned to see the rheumatologist the day I got the results from the biopsy, and I told him I had rosacea. He noticed at that visit my eyes were blood red, and he thought I might have ...I think it's called iritis..??? Anyway, he was concerned enough about it being autoimmune that he sent me to an ophthalmologist immediately and they diagnosed me with ocular rosacea. So I have it on my face and in my eyes. I have to use metronidazole gel on my face and Refresh drops and a prescription med in my eyes.

If your rheumie doesn't do anything, go to a dermatologist. I wanted to know once and for all if it was lupus or something else because I have been dealing with it for over 25 years; however, something my ANA came back positive and sometimes it came back negative, and since my rheumie had never seen the "rash," he didn't really believe me until I showed him the pictures.

I dont have a Rheumatologist, but im guessing i need one since my GP basically ignores me.
now i have burning a pain in my back and arms, kind of like i have icy hot all over my body.
and I agree Sherrine...it is all a mess with Fibro.

I get this too. It seems to happen in the evening.
One time I attributed it to having tacos (figured it was the spicy food)
The next night I had it again and I blamed it on caffeine.
The next night I wondered if it would happen again and it didn't but I can't be sure if it has anything to do with either caffeine or spicy food. It could be related to menopausal hot flashes. I decided to make a note to mention it to my doctor at my next visit. It really really BURNS...it was only on my cheeks and didn't go over the bridge of my nose like the Lupus butterfly rash does. I put cold water on my cheeks for relief.
