Legs Swelling (Adema). Fibro related??

Tonight as I'm typing this, my legs are swelling and I retaining water. I literally gained 10 pounds of water weight overnight. This happened last week as well. I went to the doctor and he did tests and what not. But, as always it seems, he had no answer for me. Is this a Fibro symptom or could this be something else? I've tried water pills, elevating my legs, staying off my feet for 24 hours. and nothing works. It took me a week to get rid of the water, and now tonight it is starting again. What can I do to fix this and can their possibly be another health issue that I don't know about besides my Fibro? shocked

We FEEL like our hands, legs, are swollen, but they really aren't.  So, my guess is that there is something else going on.  Are you eating a lot of sodium?  That will cause this in a heart beat!  Become an avid label reader.  You won't believe what you are ingesting!

 

You really should talk to your doctor about this.  This can be a symptom of other things and self-medicating doesn't help.  So, please pass this by your doctor.

I flew ina plane a year ago and my ankles and feet were so swollen I could barely walk for 14 days. I soaked them, wrapped them, jke pt them elevated and took pain meds...also pressure stockings...when I flew home, I had no swelling at all!!!

Hello,

I agree, often times I have swelling in my extremities but that sounds to be much. You may need to talk to your doctor again. It could be a sign of many other conditions. I'm not a dr, but if this continues and you aren't getting any answers you may want to get a second opinion. Or maybe even try switching doctors.

I don't ever remember reading about swelling being a fibro symptom. Like Sherrine said, sometimes I feel like I am swollen without actually having swelling. I would talk to the doctor about that again, it sounds a little extreme. Please let us know if you find anything out.

Thank you everyone. I'm waiting for the doctor office to call me back. I'm going to make another appointment. This is all so new to me and I hope it's nothing serious. I will keep you all informed.

I know that right before my IBS ordeal first started, my ankles had swollen up, but my boss at the time and I couldn't narrow down if it was my socks or the amount of standing I was doing. I do however know I 'bloat' sometimes for no reason or if I've had a lot of salt. I'm talking about looking preggers bloating. Not fun being congratulated at the hospital when going for an ultrasound to figure out the cause of the bloating either:s LOL!

Good luck and I hope you figure this out. We need to earn more nickles for every time we get told 'I hope you feel better soon' or 'hope your doc finds the answers', sheesh...lol!

That much swelling seems to be other conditions. As Sherri said the salt intake is a biggy! Try to monitor your salt intake and keep your feet elevated when sitting down. I hope they checked out your heart and kedneys before telling you that they have no answer.
