Has anyone gotten prescriptions from Canada?

I am going to try the generic cymbalta. My doc was the one that suggested I try it. I just called my insurance and because it's a new year with a new deductible...ugh...my cost for a 90 day supply is 374. bucks...where, when I called just now a 90 day supply of the generic in 89.00. It is also cheaper without being generic but I'm going to try the generic...

am I crazy?  has anyone else tried this, ordering meds from Canada?  My doc said allot of her patients are doing this because of the high cost here in the US.

I'm interested in what you all have to say... confused

Jerrie, I wouldn't do it.  Just because they are in Canada doesn't mean they are good suppliers.  You don't really know what you are getting by ordering that way.  You will have to pay the deductable sometime throughout the year.  The sooner you get it over with the cheaper your meds will be.  This is my humble opinion.

If your doctor said a lot of there patients are doing it,, maybe,, just maybe he or she might know where they are getting them,, I dont like payingmore then i have to for anything,, and I find teh cost of meds deplorable,, they suck us dry and come out withsomething new and impreoved to bleed us somemore

My husband got his Lipitor from Canada for years...we didn't have any insurance and the drug was over $250 a month here, compared to $75 a month in Canada.  One time he ordered it and it didn't come so I called the pharmacy.  She said they got the drug from some small country in Africa and they were having a hard time getting it shipped to their store...it was two months before it arrived.  Shortly thereafter, I saw something on 60 Minutes about how Canada gets much of its drug supply from overseas from countries that don't have any regulations and the pills they tested  were diluted, and some contaminated.  It turned out Lipitor was one of them.  We don't Canadian prescriptions anymore!

I know people who have done this for years without any issues....ask the pharmacy who there suppliers are....I bet you will find most very comparable...does not hurt to ask.

I got my Cymbalta from Canada for 6 months, but be aware that the generic I got were made in India & shipped via Madagascar.  I had no problems except when I tried to use some that were over 1 year old, & they were no good.  shocked shocked

I did get one from Canada last year. It's a cream for my adult acne, Tazorac. My insurance here wouldn't pay for it and it is $$$$. My sister uses a Canadian pharmacy sometimes so I used hers. I did not have any problems with it and will be using them again for this cream because it was so much cheaper. They did contact my doctor to verify the prescription.

However, I don't know if I would order pills from them and all of what I take now is covered by my insurance.
