Yesterday I woke up and felt pretty good, no "sickness" feeling just my regular muscle soreness and joint pain. Anyway I was messing around the house and my husband asked me if I wanted to go with him to do a few errands and go by my brother in laws house. Of course to get out of the house, yes! Ok here goes...I sat in the truck while he went in one bank, we went through a drive thru and had to wait for at least 10 minutes for the food to get ready, and then we rode for about
25-20 to my brother in laws house. When I got out of the truck I was a little stiff, hurt a little more esp in joints. BUT I felt ok. Now I stood up about
an hour because it was beautiful out and we walked around and stood the whole time. There was a barrel that he was buring papers and stuff in and I smelled the smoke off and on while we were there. Well, by the time we left (only stayed a little over an hour) I got in the truck and felt sick! The headache came, nausea, bowels upset and felt gassy, just yucky I am sick feeling. I came home took some motrin and a flexeril and laid down. I felt a little better in 2-3 hrs. I mean I felt really ill.
So, I wonder, I know with fibro we are sensitive to alot of things, if the smoke smell upset my system and put me in this sick flare? I have had the same reaction to deck sealer, and some cleaning chemical in my husbands garage. Does chemical sensitivity just go along with fibro? The only thing that would have set it off was me standing so long and walking around. I think I am going to keep a journal of things that happen like this to pinpoint what I did before my sick flares. I never have pain like I did in the beginning. I just don't understand why my pain is not like it first was, just soreness and these darn sick flares.
I tried to tell my doctor one day about being sensitive to smells but he said nah, not chemical sensitivity, just allergy. I am starting to think I really have that though....along with fibro.
Has anyone had strong smells or odors do this to them?
