Hasn't their been Dr's with FM ???

Okay, if the planet has like 6 million Dr's, then at least a couple hundred thousand of them should have FM too, right  ? (clearly pulling numbers out of my shocked   wink ) but just to make a point.

So to narrow it down a little more, maybe 1 out of every 100 Dr's is a Dr. who specializes in nerve and brain issues. So like 20,000 of them probably have FM !

So WTH are they thinking ? shocked

No seriously.... The reason I bring this up, is that I have, and I know, many of you have run into Dr's that don't seem to have a clue about FM, and you might have wondered if "any" of them do ?

Well yea', the odds say, that their are some Dr's that do know about FM...... maybe just as well as we do !

Kind of interesting to ponder, huh ?

Can you imagine having a personal care physician, who also had FM ?

You could tell him all of your craziest FM stuff, and instead of him looking back X'eyed, he'd be sitting their nodding in agreement, like "Yea ! Isn't that some BS !?!?

Don't mind me.

Just thinking out loud again.

Good point, Fish! The number would suggest that there have to be a few out there who know what we are feeling. But...how would they keep up a doctor's schedule with a good case of fibro?... lol I have actually listened to a lady doc talk on one of the university channels who has fibro herself. That's the only one I know of. At least I have a doctor who knows, understands and keeps trying to learn more about fibro and other chronic pain conditions.

There is a MD who is on another Fibro forum who has Fibro. He is very knowledgable and understanding. His name is Dr. Pellegrino. (not sure if I got his name spelled right)

My doc has a mild case of FM. She is great! A few years ago she moved offices. Needless to say I went too. I wish everyone could have a doc like her!

I KNEW there had to be Dr's with FM.... and dentists, and pilots, etc, etc !

I went to a Pain Mgmt clinic once. Before the nurse left the office she told me that the Dr. had Fibro too. I was so happy. Until she came in.

She said something like "I have Fibro too so you can't get anything over on me" HUH? Then she said that she knows that anti-inflammatories and flexiril are the best things for everyone to take. UH-NO.

Heck, I know that Fibro isn't an inflammatory illness, both of my rheumatologists have confirmed that and for her to say it with such conviction really hit me wrong. Needless to say, I didn't see her again.

Doesn't that make your blood boil, when people accuse us of wanting to get something over on them? Talk about projection - THEY want to get something over, THEY are lazy. But of course, they can't face that, so they project it onto others. And when it comes from a doctor, we tend to believe it - unless we already know better.

That would just be all bad ! sad

Any Dr. who isn't completely sympathetic with FM sufferers just doesn't have a freaking clue about FM.

I had a stomach specialist once, who totally ignored me when I mentioned that I thought had FM (I hadn't been actually diagnosed yet) and that I did not believe my IBS was diet related, but rather, FM related.

He told me to wait there and he would be back in a minute..... Ha ! Yea' right ! I got up, walked into the front office and told them, "I'm finished here. This Dr. doesn't have half a freaking clue, what my problems are, nor how to deal with them. Thanks anyway."

At least my Dr. now is much more informed about FM. In fact, when he diagnosed me with FM 3 years ago, he told me he was surprised that none of the Dr's before him, had picked up on this, as my case was one of the most clear cut, that he had seen. I experienced like 85% or 90% of his checklist of symptoms at one point or another. I think only like 60% was needed for a diagnosis.... but correct me if I'm wrong.

i was very blessed to have a GP for a number of years with fibro she would ask me about what information I could find on line meds that worked for some people that type of thing she was wonderful if the pain was really bad I just had to go in and she would give me injections. If I could not sleep for a number of days the same thing a injection. As she told me tablets to me are useless. Anyhow the pracrice was sold and they brought all new GP'S in and mine moved away I have no idea where she moved to.
But if I could find another GP with Fibro I would be there in a shot and I know a lot of women in my area who also have fibro who are looking for a GP who understands.
