Hi, Newbies, and welcome!  As I'm scanning the posts I keep finding new members posting on threads.  I don't have the time to welcome everyone individually so I'm going to do this post for all of you.  If  you get a chance, start a new thread to introduce yourself.  That way, our other members will know you have arrived!  We do want to get to know you.

 

I'm glad you have all found this wonderful forum.  We have great members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, really do care about each other, too.  I think you will like it here.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You just might see yourself there!  Do read all of the links.  They are chock full of good information you you might find things to help you with your journey with fibromyalgia.

Hello, My name is Anna. I just came back from my first doctor's appt for all this. I'm devastated and terrified. He said I probably do have fibro but it can't be the only thing b/c I have other symptoms that don't relate to that. He referred me to yet another neurologist for my migraines & cognitive issues (this'll be my 3rd nuero) and when I asked him what to do about everything else (tremors, all over body pain, dizziness, muscle spasms, extreme fatigue) he just SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS!!! I don't know what to do. I'm a single mom with 2 small children. I have no financial help. I'm employed full time and just got back to work in Jan after a 3mo leave b/c of this stuff. I'm calling in everyday or going to work just to turn around and leave b/c I can't function. I have no help for the pain. I'm miserable and alone. Why won't anyone help me??? :(

Hi, and welcome. Finding the right doctor can be very difficult. It often takes months or even years - it took me about 2 years, I think.

Many of us struggled for a long time before we got a dx and longer to find a doc who was knwoledgable and caring. Hang in there.

I would start by trying to find a Rheumatologist. You may need a referral, depending on your insurance. And call the office before going to make sure the rheumy treats fibro. Are you on any meds? many of us have to see a Pain Managemnt Doc also to get pain meds and muscle relaxers.

It seems overwhelming right now, I know but slowly things will come together, but you must be your own advocate in your medical care. Checking out all the Forum's fibro material will help you do this.

I am sorry that your doc is so clueless, some still believe that fibro is an imaginary disease...so kick that jerk to the curb.

This is a great place to vent and get support, so keep posting. Read the links, even print out all your symptoms and questions for the next doctor.

I hope you find a sympathetic medical professional very soon
